About Us:
English Language Partners is a not-for-profit, education provider with NZQA category 1 status, that has been providing English language programmes and settlement support to adult migrants and people from refugee and asylum backgrounds throughout New Zealand for over 40 years.
With 21 centres spanning from Whangārei to Invercargill, our dedicated team of 380 staff and 850 volunteers annually support over 8,000 learners. We are passionate about supporting former refugees and migrants participate successfully in all aspects of life in Aotearoa New Zealand and we are looking for your help to achieve this.
About the Role:
Based in Masterton, we are looking for a qualified and experienced ESOL Teacher interested in part-time work, supporting former refugees to develop their spoken and written English language skills. The role would be:
- Class: ESOL Intensive
- Hours: 7 hours per week (during school terms)
- Schedule: Thursdays and Fridays, 9:30am – 1:00pm
- Contract Type: Fixed term for two terms, with the possibility of relief teaching thereafter
- Pay Rate: $50.84 per hour (teaching rate)
- Location: Masterton
- Delivery: May include varied locations
Who you are: You are an experienced teacher who has lived or taught in New Zealand for at least a few years, or you may have experience working with adult learners. You have a strong understanding of New Zealand cultural practices, alongside empathy for the challenges of adapting to a new country.
You bring a creative, practical, and adaptable approach to your teaching and take pride in delivering a truly learner-centred experience.
Is this you? - Tertiary qualified in TESOL at level 5 or above that includes a component of observed teaching practice (e.g. post-grad certification or diploma such as CELTA, Cert TESOL, Cert TEAL, Dip SLT).
- New Zealand teaching qualification (ideally primary) or NCALNE (Voc) is desirable but not essential.
- Experience in ESOL teaching (preferably in a New Zealand context) at varied levels, particularly to beginner learners.
- Experience delivering online teaching and/or a good understanding of technology for teaching is desirable.
- A learner centred approach with the ability to be guided by a curriculum while being creative, practical, and adaptable in your teaching style.
- A motivated self-starter with strong cultural sensitivity, empathy and the ability to work as part of a tight-knit team.
