Who you are:
You’ll be an experienced Teacher who has lived or taught in New Zealand for at least a few years and you’ve worked with pre-literacy adult learners or primary aged school children learning to read and write. You are creative, practical, and adaptable in your teaching style and take pride in delivering a truly learner-centred curriculum.
What’s coming up?
- Two 10-hour literacy focused Pre-literacy adult English group classes. These classes will run Monday to Thursday 9am to 11:30am and from 12pm to 2:30pm face to face. We would consider hiring one teacher for two classes, or two teachers with one class each.
- $50.34 per hour teaching rate, Aoraki Timaru location, fixed-term contract with a possibility of extension.
- We also offer one-to-one private tuition contracts, variable hours, delivered in the learner's home under a self-employed contractor arrangement, $57.90 per hour plus GST.
Is this you? - Tertiary qualified in TESOL at level 5 or above that includes a component of observed teaching practice (e.g. post-grad certification or diploma such as CELTA, Cert TESOL, Cert TEAL, Dip SLT).
- Additionally, a New Zealand teaching qualification (ideally primary) or NCALNE (Voc) is desirable but not essential.
- Experience in ESOL teaching (preferably in a New Zealand context) at varied levels, particularly with pre-literacy and primary-level learners.
- A good understanding of technology for teaching is desirable.
- A learner-centred approach with the ability to be guided by a curriculum while being creative, practical, and adaptable in your teaching style.
- A motivated self-starter with strong cultural sensitivity, empathy and the ability to work as part of a tight-knit team.
What we offer?
ELPNZ is a friendly and inclusive workplace with a culture of continuous improvement. It is a place where your own potential will be nurtured as you work alongside a passionate and talented group of educators committed to helping former refugees and migrants learn English and effectively settle in New Zealand.
