We’re looking for a passionate ESOL teacher with some leadership experience who’s ready for the next step. This is a fantastic 2IC (second-in-charge) opportunity to build on your leadership capability while continuing to make a real difference in learners’ lives.

English Language Partners is a not-for-profit, education provider with NZQA category 1 status, that has been providing English language programmes and settlement support to adult migrants and people from refugee and asylum backgrounds throughout New Zealand for over 40 years.

With 21 centres spanning from Whangārei to Invercargill, our dedicated team of 380 staff and 850 volunteers annually support over 8,000 learners. We are passionate about supporting former refugees and migrants participate successfully in all aspects of life in Aotearoa New Zealand and we are looking for your help to achieve this.

What you’ll be doing?

• As the Senior ESOL Coordinator, your main focus is to ensure the smooth functioning of our centre through a blend of coordinating, training, administrative, and networking tasks.
• You step into the shoes of the Centre Manager when needed, offering crucial support in managing our operational staff and volunteers.
• Your daily activities involve hands-on participation in the centre's operation, covering planning, reporting, staff management and guidance, HR and Payroll administration, and approvals.
• You also contribute to the planning of professional development initiatives for our teaching staff.
• You actively build networks and relationships internally and externally, contributing to the overall success and impact of our centre.
• Our team comprises of 4 Coordinator/Operations support staff, 24 part-time teaching staff and 54 Volunteers to service over a thousand learners each year.
• Permanent, full time, 37.5 hours per week, competitive rate.

Is this you?

• Tertiary degree and qualification in a relevant discipline such as TESOL, TEFL, teaching, adult education.
• Ability to develop networks with ethnic communities, community organisations, support agencies.
• Staff management/team leadership/supervisory experience, ideally 1- 2+ years.
• Proven organisation and administration skills with the ability to work autonomously.
• Cultural understanding - welcomes and values diversity, contributes to an inclusive working environment where differences are acknowledged and respected, and issues faced by different population groups are recognised.
• Meeting/group facilitation skills.
• Time management and ability to prioritise diverse tasks.
• Confident IT user and intermediate/advanced user of the Microsoft Office suite, with the ability to troubleshoot issues.
• Strong communication skills; demonstrated oral and written skills.
