UON Energy for Every Future
UON is a Western Australian integrated energy company providing turnkey energy and water solutions to the mining sector and beyond, helping our customers on their decarbonisation journey utilising the technology, skills and real experience of team members across the business.
About the Role:
An exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced Estimator to join our team in Malaga, Perth WA.
The ideal applicant will have
mining experience outside of civil estimating, demonstrable experience working within
dewatering projects and come from an
electrical background.
- This role will suit an estimator with 7+ years' experience who is comfortable developing estimates for complex, multidisciplinary projects within the mining and infrastructure sectors.
- We are particularly interested in candidates with an electrical estimating background, although strong experience across mining infrastructure, power generation or dewatering projects will also be highly regarded.
** Candidates with traditional civil estimating background need not apply. ** UON is looking for someone who can understand technical scopes, interrogate project requirements and develop robust estimates across equipment, electrical, mechanical, piping and supporting infrastructure packages.
Your main responsibilities will include:
- Prepare and price tenders — quantity take-offs, first-principles rates, provisional sums/contingency, and final tender price development.
- Ensure all EOI and tender submissions comply with client requirements.
- Source, compare and level subcontractor and supplier quotations to a consistent scope basis.
- Assist procurement/purchasing functions per company procedures, as directed by the Bid Manager.
- Manage client queries and clarifications, distributing responses and tender amendments to the right people.
- Support bid governance — launch meetings, mid-term and final tender reviews, post-submittal clarifications, and tender program input.
- Maintain company risk and opportunity compliance, minimising risk exposure under company terms and conditions.
- Track estimate accuracy post-award — site visits and feedback loops with the projects division to compare estimated vs actual costs, plus structured handover to the project team.
- Maintain cost/profitability records — company unit cost database, job profitability and unit cost analysis.
- General administration — archiving bids, regular reporting, adhering to policies, flagging client relationship issues, and other duties as required.
Only those with the unrestricted right to work in Australia will be considered. UON is an Equal Opportunity Employer, and we strongly support diversity in our workforce.
Applicants from diverse backgrounds and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders, are encouraged to apply.
