UON’s business centres around the design, manufacturing, supply, construction and maintenance of remote, off-grid power and water infrastructure, with many of the products manufactured in UON’s Malaga facility, based on proprietary and patented designs.
An exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced Estimator to join our team in Malaga, Perth WA.
Your main responsibilities will include:
- Prepare and price tenders — quantity take-offs, first-principles rates, provisional sums/contingency, and final tender price development.
- Ensure all EOI and tender submissions comply with client requirements.
- Source, compare and level subcontractor and supplier quotations to a consistent scope basis.
- Assist procurement/purchasing functions per company procedures, as directed by the Bid Manager.
- Manage client queries and clarifications, distributing responses and tender amendments to the right people.
- Support bid governance — launch meetings, mid-term and final tender reviews, post-submittal clarifications, and tender program input.
- Maintain company risk and opportunity compliance, minimising risk exposure under company terms and conditions.
- Track estimate accuracy post-award — site visits and feedback loops with the projects division to compare estimated vs actual costs, plus structured handover to the project team.
- Maintain cost/profitability records — company unit cost database, job profitability and unit cost analysis.
- General administration — archiving bids, regular reporting, adhering to policies, flagging client relationship issues, and other duties as required.
Skills & Experience
- Tertiary qualifications in Quantity Surveying, Engineering, Construction Management, or similar.
- Experience using Pronamics Expert Estimator to develop bids and maintain a database of costs
- Minimum 2 years' experience in the Australian building, civil, or engineering construction industry, spanning:
Civil: earthworks, drainage, pipelines (HDPE), concrete, pavements, trenchless methods (HDD/thrust boring).
Mechanical and Piping: pipework fabrication/installation, jointing, pressure testing, pumps, valves, equipment installation.
Electrical: HV/LV cabling, switchboards, transformers/substations, instrumentation and commissioning.
