UON is a Western Australian integrated energy company providing turnkey energy and water solutions to the mining sector and beyond. The role includes Civil Work and Dewatering Infrastructure for Tier 1 clients.
Various rosters available - 8:6 and 2:1.

The purpose of the WHSE ADVISOR (Site) is to provide advice to workplace (Project) personnel on WHSE compliance, and support to workplace (Project) management. This role will also provide support with the development and maintenance of the WHSE Management Plan/s.

• Provide advice, coaching and support to Project Manager, supervision and general employees in the performance of their specific WHSE responsibilities and duties, including set KPIs as defined within the WHSE Management Plans and system, Client specifications and statutory legislation.
• Contribute to continuously promote the UON Safety Program to develop a culture whereby WHSE is held in the highest regard.
• Intervene where required to stop and prevent at-risk behaviours.
• Conduct VOCs in conjunction with a subject matter expert as required.
• Monitor and keep up to date with statutory legislation for WHSE, including relevant industry standards, codes of practice and guidance notes.
• Coordinate the maintenance of WHSE equipment, including but not limited to emergency response equipment (extinguishers, first aid kits) and calibrated equipment (breathalysers) with records maintained.
• Maintain WHSE specific compliance records, documents and data.
• Provide expert advice in the risk management process referencing WHSE statutory requirements, UON and Client standards, industry practices, and lessons learnt information.

Requirements: 

• Certificate IV in Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) or equivalent.
• Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.
• A minimum of 2 years’ experience in the construction and engineering industry. 
• Strong understanding of mining safety legislation and site rules. 
• Knowledge of contractor HSE obligations and principal contractor requirements. 
• Working experience with mine safety management systems (SMS). 
• Understanding of civil, mechanical and electrical construction hazards. 
• Proven ability and demonstrated experience in behavioural-based WHSE management programs and applications.
• Clear understanding of WHSE legislation.
• Generalist WHSE knowledge, including incident investigation (TapRoot, Icam etc.) and internal auditing capability.
