UON Energy for Every Future
UON is a Western Australian integrated energy business delivering turnkey energy and water solutions to the mining sector and beyond. We support our clients on their decarbonisation journey by combining proven technology, practical expertise, and real on the ground experience.
Our work spans the design, manufacturing, supply, construction, and maintenance of remote, off-grid power and water infrastructure. Many of our systems are built locally at our Malaga facility using proprietary and patented designs.
About The Opportunity: We’re looking for a hands-on Operations Supervisor to run day to day operations out of our Malaga depot.
This is not a desk-based management role, we want someone who is on the floor and leading from the front coordinating the team while still actively involved in guiding the leading hands and organising the workflow internally and with vendors.
You’ll be working closely with Leading Hands, the Rental Coordinator and the Operations Manager to keep jobs moving, equipment ready and the workshop running efficiently.
What You’ll Be Doing: - Daily input: diagnostics, repairs, servicing, and fault finding
- Leading and supporting trades and technicians on the workshop floor
- Allocating daily tasks and setting clear priorities for Leading Hands
- Coordinating workflow to meet deadlines and operational requirements
- Liaising with the Rental Coordinator to ensure equipment availability and turnaround
- Maintaining high safety and workshop standards
- Assisting with mobilisation, maintenance, and preparation of power and water equipment
- Troubleshooting issues in real time to minimise downtime
About You:
We’re not looking for a corporate manager, we’re looking for a practical, experienced person who knows how to run a workshop because they’ve worked in one.
You will have: - A strong trades background (Mechanical preferred, Electrical or Fabrication also considered)
- At least 5 years in a supervisory or leading hand role
- A willingness to stay hands on and lead by example
- Solid fault-finding and problem-solving skills
- Experience in power generation, pumps, or dewatering equipment (highly regarded)
- The ability to coordinate people and jobs without overcomplicating things
- A current Australian C Class Manual Driver’s Licence
Nice to have (but not essential): - Certificate IV in Leadership & Management
- Experience with hire/rental equipment environments
- Exposure to remote or mining-related operations
What This Role Is NOT: - Not a corporate management role
- Not suited to someone wanting to step away from a workshop environment
What We Offer: - Full-time, permanent role with long-term stability
- Competitive salary aligned with experience
- A well-equipped Malaga workshop with consistent workflow
- Internal training and development opportunities
- Career progression within a growing WA-based business
- Referral bonus program
- Corporate health cover options
- Active social club and team environment
- Novated lease options
If you’re a mechanic who still enjoys the workshop environment and wants to step into or continue in a leadership role without leaving the workshop behind, we want to hear from you.
UON is an Equal Opportunity Employer, and we strongly support diversity in our workforce. Applicants from diverse backgrounds and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders, are encouraged to apply.
Note: Only applicants with unrestricted rights to work in Australia will be considered for this position.
