UON’s business centres around the design, manufacturing, supply, construction and maintenance of remote, off-grid power and water infrastructure, with many of the products manufactured in UON’s Malaga facility, based on proprietary and patented designs.

About The Opportunity: 

Join our Energy division in our new Port Hedland facility, this is a permanent Port Hedland based position overseeing maintenance and mechanical modifications to UON equipment tailored to meet customer specification.

• Undertake planned and ADHOC inspections on the condition of UON products as required.
• Installation and commissioning of UON products in workshop/Yard and WA mine sites.
• Predictive and reactive service, maintenance and repair of UON and client equipment as required.
• Complete general maintenance, repairs and component change outs on a variety of surface mining equipment.
• Detecting and diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults in engines and parts of the power generation equipment by trouble shooting and provide professional advice as required.
• Mechanically modifying equipment sold by UON to meet customer specifications.
• Assembly of equipment sold or owned by UON, including pumps and power generation equipment.
• Reassembling diesel engines and parts after being repaired.
• Repair and rebuild UON assets as required to Company specifications.

About You: 

This position will suit a skilled and self-motivated HD Mechanic with prior exposure to maintenance and testing of power generation, dewatering and pump equipment. 

• Basic welding knowledge.
• Programming/Protection analysis.
• Mechanical Testing.
• Ability to read complex schematics.
• Ability to work in a team or independently.
• Ability to work in a remote setting.
• Understanding of regulatory requirement.
• Problem Solving/Trouble Shooting.

Requirements: 

• Current Nationally Accredited Confined Space Ticket (within 2 years).
• Current WA HR Class Drivers Licence.
• Trade Qualified Heavy Diesel Mechanic or Mobile Plant Equipment Mechanic (Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology).
• A minimum of 3 years experience on mine sites, performing service in mobile equipment and driving to field service.
• A minimum of 3 years experience of Servicing and Diagnostics experience gained in heavy vehicle, mining, heavy construction, materials handling or similar heavy industry.
• Nationally Accredited Work Safely at Heights.
• A minimum of 3 years experience working with heavy diesel engine diagnosis, rebuild and repair.
• A minimum of 3 years experience diagnosing and rectifying fieldbus circuits in mobile and stationary plant and equipment.
• Clear National Police Clearance.
