Assembly Process Engineer | Sallisaw, OK| Full-Time, On-Site
Are you the engineer who would rather be on the line solving the problem than reading about it in a report? TAPP Workforce Solutions is partnering with a manufacturing client in Sallisaw, OK to hire an Assembly Process Engineer who will design, optimize and maintain high-efficiency assembly systems, keeping equipment, tooling and workflows running smoothly while driving down downtime, scrap and waste.
You will be the critical link between product design, quality and the shop floor, leading continuous improvement, clearing technical bottlenecks and lifting overall production efficiency.
What You'll Do
- Design, evaluate and refine assembly workflows, including automated washing, pressing, leak testing and specialized joining operations
- Apply Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles to line layout, maximizing throughput across varying part geometries, materials and volumes
- Specify, select and integrate custom tooling, machinery and automation, and oversee installation, line setups, maintenance schedules and calibration
- Monitor line quality metrics, lead root-cause analysis (5-Why, Fishbone) and partner with Quality to eliminate recurring defects and non-conformances
- Provide hands-on support on the plant floor to resolve machinery, process and tooling breakdowns, maximizing uptime and OEE
- Author and maintain SOPs, setup sheets and PFMEAs, and drive 5S and line standardization
- Analyze cycle times, downtime and scrap rates to fuel continuous improvement projects
- Train operators and technicians on new work instructions, equipment and methods, and act as the go-to technical expert on the floor
- Collaborate with Design Engineering, Production Control and Maintenance for smooth design-for-manufacturability (DFM) handoffs
- Enforce equipment safety standards and ergonomic tooling use across all lines
What You'll Bring - Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering, or a related discipline (Lean Six Sigma Green/Black Belt or extensive hands-on manufacturing experience may substitute)
- 3+ years of hands-on experience in assembly process engineering or manufacturing operations
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems, machine kinematics and automated assembly
- CAD proficiency for basic drafting, fixture modifications and layout adjustments
- Practical experience with Lean tools (Value Stream Mapping, 5S, Kaizen) and Six Sigma frameworks
- Proven ability to diagnose mechanical and procedural bottlenecks under live production timelines
- A precise, analytical approach to troubleshooting and process control
- Clear communication and technical writing skills, comfortable working with operators, plant leadership and external vendors
Work Environment - On-site role, splitting time between a modern manufacturing plant floor and a collaborative engineering office
- Daily hands-on work with production equipment, operators and cross-functional teams
- Industrial setting with noise, ambient temperature changes and confined workspaces
- Ability to lift and carry equipment, tooling or components up to 40 lbs
Compensation
$70,000 - $95,000 per year
