CNC Process Engineer | Multi-Axis Machining and Process Optimization
What if your next role put you in charge of how the parts actually get made?
This CNC Process Engineer position is built for an engineer who wants real ownership. You will not be babysitting someone else's programs. You will be the primary technical link between product design and production. You will decide how precision parts are programmed, fixtured, tooled, and machined, and then make every one of those steps faster, leaner, and more precise.
It is a role for someone who is equally comfortable at a CAD/CAM workstation and standing beside a multi-axis machine working through a stubborn tolerance issue. Your time is split between a professional engineering office and an active plant floor, so your ideas move from screen to spindle quickly and you get to see the results.

You report directly to the Engineering Manager, so your recommendations are heard and acted on without layers in between. Your impact is measurable in cycle times, scrap rates, OEE, and process capability. As the go-to technical resource for operators and production staff, your expertise raises the capability of the whole floor.
What You'll Be Doing
- Design, implement, and continually refine multi-axis CNC machining processes that deliver consistent precision.
- Select the best cutting tools, speeds, feeds, and machining parameters for each job.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives that cut cycle times, scrap, and rework.
- Create, edit, and optimize CNC programs using G-code and advanced CAD/CAM software.
- Design custom workholding, fixtures, and tool setups for high-precision operations.
- Build clear, standardized process plans and work instructions operators can follow with confidence.
- Partner with Quality Control on first-piece inspections and process approvals.
- Use SPC and root cause analysis to resolve dimensional non-conformances for good.
- Keep processes compliant with relevant safety regulations and quality frameworks.
- Diagnose complex machining issues on the shop floor and rapidly deploy corrective actions.
- Train and guide operators and production staff with hands-on technical support.
- Author and maintain SOPs and PFMEAs that protect quality and consistency.
- Apply Lean principles to remove bottlenecks and optimize shop floor layout.
- Track and analyze KPIs such as OEE and process capability to drive better decisions.
What We're Looking For A Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of formal technical certifications and extensive hands-on experience.
3 to 5 years of hands-on experience in CNC machining or process engineering.
A deep understanding of CNC programming, advanced machining techniques, and CAD/CAM software platforms.
Strong mastery of GD&T principles.
A proven background in custom fixture design, workholding, and tool selection.
Knowledge of material properties and machinability across metals, composites, and plastics.
Practical experience applying Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
An analytical mindset for turning production data into real efficiency gains.
Clear communication skills and the ability to teach and collaborate with operators, quality personnel, and cross-functional teams.
Comfort working in a production environment with noise, temperature variations, and mild confined spaces, and the ability to occasionally lift up to 40 lbs.
Compensation & Work Model Compensation is competitive and will be discussed during the screening process.
This is a full-time, onsite role.
Location & Travel This role is on-site at a manufacturing and production facility in Sallisaw, Oklahoma.
