Heavy Duty Truck Technician — Diagnose, Repair, and Keep Fleets Moving
This role may also be known as: Heavy Duty Mechanic, Truck and Transport Mechanic, Fleet Maintenance Technician, Diesel Technician
If you'd rather be under the hood solving real mechanical problems than stuck doing the same routine job day after day, this shop wants to meet you. This is a full-time Heavy Duty Truck Technician role on an established maintenance team, working on heavy duty trucks and fleet vehicles from diagnostics through full repair.
What sets this apart is the built-in growth path — the role is specifically structured to move a strong technician into more senior shop positions over time, not left to chance. You'll get broad exposure across engines, brake systems, electrical components, transmissions, and differentials, using motor analyzers, handheld diagnostic computers, and modern OEM systems.
You'll also have the chance to mentor apprentices and journeymen as you grow, working in a shop that runs on structured PM programs and clear KPIs rather than putting out fires all day.
Why This Opportunity Is Different:
Most technician roles ask you to clock in and turn wrenches. This one is built around progression — you're expected to grow into a more senior shop position, and mentoring less experienced technicians is part of the path there, not a distraction from it. You'll also work fairly independently once ramped up, with a team that treats safety and process as a priority rather than an afterthought.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Diagnose and repair heavy duty trucks and fleet vehicles, from engines and brake systems to steering and fuel systems.
- Keep vehicles running reliably through scheduled preventative maintenance and safety inspections.
- Requisition, track, and verify parts to keep repairs moving without downtime.
- Document work orders and inspections accurately to support billing, inventory, and KPI tracking.
- Mentor apprentices and fellow journeymen while contributing ideas to continuous improvement initiatives.
What We're Looking For: - Red Seal Journeyman certification as a Truck and Transport Mechanic (or equivalent), or well underway toward it, along with a Government Safety Inspection certificate, Air Brake certification, and Ozone Depletion Prevention certification.
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada (no sponsorship available)
- Post-secondary training in Heavy Duty, Automotive, or Transport Maintenance.
- Valid Class G driver's license (or provincial equivalent) with a clean driving record; Class 1 with Air Brakes is a plus.
- Strong mechanical knowledge of heavy equipment and commercial motor vehicles, along with proficiency in hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic systems.
- Comfortable working independently, solving problems under pressure, and communicating clearly with customers and teammates.
Compensation is competitive and will be discussed during the screening process. This is an onsite, shop-based role.
Based in Mississauga, Ontario.
