Transmission Line Engineer (Engineer IV/V) – Power Delivery
This role may also be known as: Transmission Design Engineer, Transmission Planning Engineer, Power Delivery Engineer, Electrical Engineer – Transmission Systems If you're an engineer who wants more than a seat at the table, this is worth a look. You'd be joining a Power Delivery engineering group responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining transmission, distribution, substation, and SCADA automation equipment across an entire regional transmission system. This isn't a role where you quietly review someone else's plans. You'll lead capital execution of transmission projects, develop the technical specifications and standards that get used across the system, and work directly with equipment manufacturers and vendors, including plant and site visits.
There's also a clear runway here. As you grow into the role, you'll mentor and train less experienced engineers, serve as a go-to technical expert on complex problems, and have a real say in how the organization approaches reliability, compliance, and equipment strategy.

What You'll Be Doing - Lead capital execution of transmission design, materials, and equipment projects
- Model and analyze transmission designs using PLS-CADD or a comparable engineering tool
- Develop design requirements, technical specifications, and standards for transmission equipment
- Coordinate with stakeholders and provide direct input into transmission project plans
- Engage with equipment manufacturers and vendors, including plant and site visits
- Review existing materials, components, and design standards to identify improvements and cost savings
- Provide project management support for medium to large transmission projects
- Mentor and train less experienced engineers in design, planning, and fieldwork
What We're Looking For - Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field, or four years of equivalent relevant experience in place of a degree
- 6+ years of relevant engineering experience (Engineer IV) or 10+ years (Engineer V)
- Hands-on proficiency with PLS-CADD or a comparable engineering design tool
- Ability to read, interpret, and modify one-line diagrams and transmission plan/elevation drawings
- Working knowledge of FERC, NERC, and CIP compliance standards
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; a self-starter who also works well on a team
- Master's degree, Washington State EIT, PE license, or AutoCAD experience all a plus, but not required
Compensation & Work Model Engineer IV: $112,585–$192,317 (Midpoint $152,452). Engineer V: $130,666–$228,062 (Midpoint $179,364). Starting pay is based on qualifications, experience, and internal alignment. Hybrid work model, with a standard schedule of 8, 9, or 10-hour shifts depending on the team.
Location & Travel Based out of the Ephrata, Washington area, with an additional location available. Periodic travel is expected for field, plant, and vendor site visits.
