Payroll Administrator – Multi-Currency, Multi-Entity Environment
This is a Payroll Administrator opportunity for someone who wants more than a single-entity payroll book. You'll be the trusted hand ensuring gross and individual payrolls are accurate and timely across a multi-currency, multi-entity organization, working directly alongside US and foreign external payroll providers. The scope extends well beyond payroll processing into general ledger reconciliation, tax compliance, and audit support — work that gives you real visibility into how the finance function operates.
This isn't a role where you just push payroll through a system. You'll be trusted with sensitive, confidential information, given a voice in identifying and recommending internal controls, and asked to document and improve processes rather than simply follow them. It's steady, essential work in an organization that clearly values getting the details right.
Why This Opportunity Is Different
Most payroll roles are confined to a single entity and a single currency. This one spans multiple countries and legal entities, giving you exposure to international payroll operations, foreign general ledger recording, and multi-state and federal tax research most payroll professionals never get early in their careers. You'll have a direct hand in shaping documentation, controls, and continuous improvement — not just executing someone else's process.
What You'll Be Doing
- Ensure gross and individual payrolls are accurate and delivered on time, coordinating with US and foreign external payroll providers
- Maintain accurate employee benefit records within the payroll system
- Audit overtime and special pay, and prepare variance analysis reports before each payroll finalizes
- Manually record foreign payroll activity to the general ledger and reconcile key balance sheet accounts monthly
- Apply IRS and multi-state regulations correctly, and research and resolve federal and multi-state tax and reporting issues
- Prepare and process payroll for foreign legal entities where needed
- Support year-end external audits and tax filings with requested data
- Document payroll processes through flow charts and other approved methods, keeping them current
- Identify and recommend internal controls within payroll-related areas
- Test and implement third-party payroll system changes and update related work instructions
What We're Looking For - Minimum four years of experience in a multi-currency payroll environment
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Demonstrated understanding of the general ledger and the impact of journal entries
- Strong track record building working relationships with clients, suppliers, and internal and external contacts
- Proven leadership, interpersonal, organizational, administrative, and communication skills
- A demonstrated pattern of continuous improvement in your area of responsibility
- Proficiency in MS Office programs
- Preferred: Associate's degree in accounting or finance, Oracle experience, advanced Excel skills, and experience with a payroll service provider such as ADP
Compensation & Work Model Compensation is competitive and will be discussed during the screening process.
Location & Travel This position is based in Houston, Texas, with domestic and international travel required up to approximately 5% of the time, sometimes with limited notice.
