Own the heartbeat of a manufacturing floor — and be valued for it.
Where your day actually matters. Where the schedule you build determines whether customers get what they need, when they need it. Where you're not one of dozens of planners lost in a spreadsheet — you're a central voice in daily operations.
This is a Production Scheduler role with a well-established packaging manufacturer in Barrie, Ontario. The company is growing, operationally serious, and genuinely people-first — not just in talking points, but in how they structure work, invest in their team, and show up for their employees day to day.
If you've been grinding in a scheduling or planning role where your contributions go unnoticed or your input isn't valued, this is the opposite of that. You'll be working alongside production, procurement, logistics, and customer service — driving coordination across the floor, not just tracking it.
Why This Opportunity Is Different
Most scheduler roles are reactive. This one isn't. You'll be expected to own proactive backlog reviews, continuous improvement initiatives, and real-time schedule adjustments — giving you genuine authority over how production flows. You'll have direct exposure to leadership and cross-functional teams from day one. The company has a strong track record of promoting from within and investing in the people who step up. The day shift, Monday to Friday schedule reflects a culture that actually respects your time — and the benefits package backs that up. This isn't a revolving-door environment. The team is collaborative, tenured, and stable.
What You'll Be Doing
- Develop and actively manage production schedules to meet customer demand while optimizing equipment and workforce utilization
- Coordinate across multiple production departments and process stages to keep timelines aligned
- Adjust schedules in real time to accommodate urgent orders and shifting priorities
- Distribute job documentation to departments ahead of production runs and manage purchase order requests
- Work directly with procurement, logistics, and customer service to ensure resource availability and communicate lead times
- Track production progress, identify delays early, and implement corrective actions before they escalate
- Input and manage production data in internal scheduling systems and produce clear status reports for leadership
- Create work orders for equipment repairs and maintenance, and support continuous improvement initiatives across production stage
What We're Looking For - Experience in production scheduling, planning, or operations coordination in a manufacturing environment
- Strong working knowledge of scheduling systems or ERP/MRP platforms
- Proven ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven setting
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
- Clear, confident communicator — able to convey production status and risks to leadership and cross-functional teams
- Solutions-oriented mindset with the ability to adapt quickly when plans change
- Collaborative team player who takes ownership of their work and upholds high standards
