About the role
We supply and install metering products and remote reading systems for water, gas, and electric utilities across Canada — and we're growing. We're looking for a motivated, reliable Meter Technician to join our team installing and replacing water meters and communication devices at residential and commercial properties throughout Alberta, with occasional travel to other provinces.
Full training is provided. You'll build hands-on expertise in advanced metering infrastructure (AMI), remote reading technologies, and utility metering systems — with real opportunities to advance your career within a growing organisation.
What you'll do
Installation & maintenance
- Install, replace, and maintain water meters, transmitters, and related equipment
- Complete assigned work orders and appointments in line with project schedules
- Verify equipment operation and troubleshoot issues as required
Customer interaction
- Engage professionally with customers at residential and commercial properties
- Explain the installation process clearly and address customer questions with confidence
Safety, documentation & scheduling
- Follow all safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements
- Record installation details accurately using handheld devices and company software
- Manage your daily schedule independently and communicate proactively with supervisors
What we're looking for
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid Class 5 driver's licence with a clean driving abstract
- Legally entitled to work in Canada and able to pass a criminal background check
- Strong mechanical aptitude and comfortable with tools
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Able to work independently and manage time effectively
- Comfortable with mobile devices, apps, and digital data entry
- Willing to travel for out-of-town assignments across Western Canada
- Available for occasional evening (4:00–6:00 PM) and Saturday (8:00 AM–4:00 PM) shifts
- Plumbing or related trade experience is a strong asset
Working hours & conditions
- Typical shift: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
- Evening shifts (4:00–6:00 PM) may occur frequently during active project phases
- Occasional Saturday shifts and extended hours based on project requirements
- Travel and overnight stays required for out-of-town assignments
- Work in varied indoor and outdoor environments; exposure to all weather conditions
- Physical requirements include lifting up to 40 lbs, kneeling, and working in confined spaces
