Job Title: Field Service Representative (Gas Utility Technician)

Salary: $33.00/hour
Reports to: Field Service Leader

Important Hiring Note We are currently hiring for the June intake. This posting is specific to the Cranbrook region. Candidates must be willing and available to travel for out-of-town assignments as required, but will not be locked into a fixed rotational schedule for the duration of the summer.
Job Summary
We are seeking dedicated Field Service Representatives to join our team in Cranbrook, BC. As a Field Service Representative, you will be responsible for the installation of gas meters for residential and small commercial customers. You will work closely with the Field Service Leader to ensure all installations are completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with all regulatory standards.
This role is primarily based out of the Cranbrook area, with out-of-town travel assignments scheduled on an as-needed basis throughout the project season (June–September 30). Candidates should be flexible and open to travelling for up to 14 consecutive days at a time when operational needs require it, though extended travel will not be a consistent or guaranteed part of the schedule.
Travel Requirements
- Home base: Cranbrook and surrounding region
- Out-of-town travel may be required at various points between June and September 30
- When travel is required, assignments may be up to 14 consecutive days in duration
- Travel frequency and scheduling will vary based on project needs — candidates will not be committed to a recurring rotational pattern throughout the summer
- Advance notice will be provided for out-of-town assignments where possible
Travel Support Provided (when applicable): - Company-provided Metercor vehicle for travel assignments (Doubled up with another FSR)
- Hotel accommodation fully paid during deployments
- $80 per day travel allowance while travelling
Key Responsibilities Installation & Field Work: - Install new gas meters at residential and small commercial properties
- Use hand tools and equipment as part of daily meter installation activities
- Conduct safety checks and leak tests on installed meters
- Support other Metercor project locations on a short-term basis when required
Safety & Compliance: - Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures
- Ensure all installations comply with relevant codes, standards, and regulations
Customer Service: - Interact with customers professionally and courteously
- Explain the installation process and provide clear information
- Address customer concerns and provide appropriate solutions
Documentation & Reporting: - Accurately document all installation activities
- Complete and submit digital work orders via handheld device
- Maintain inventory of tools, equipment, and materials
Qualifications Education & Experience: - High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience in gas meter installation, plumbing, pipe fitting, or a related field is an asset but not required
