HIGH-LEVEL OVERVIEW FOR CANDIDATES
This is a senior clinical leadership role within a medevac/air medical transport operation based in Winnipeg, MB. As Clinical Dispatch Manager, you will serve as the operational hub between clinical personnel, flight operations, and Online Medical Control (OLMC). You will triage and prioritize patient transport needs, manage clinical crew deployment, and ensure regulatory compliance — all while working 12-hour rotational shifts in a fast-paced, mission-critical environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide direction and leadership to all clinical personnel in partnership with Medical Managers and OLMC
- Triage and prioritize patient transport needs
- Facilitate conference calls for clinical consults as required
- Collaborate with client and flight operations to pair aircraft assets with the most appropriate clinical crew
- Delegate tasks to frontline staff for efficient use of duty days
- Attend daily operational meetings to maintain open communication within Operational Control
- Liaise and facilitate patient conference calls with OLMC and all stakeholders
- Maintain proficiency in electronic patient care record software to support frontline staff
- Ensure regulatory compliance of contractual medevac operations
- Enforce Health & Safety rules in the workplace
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge through ongoing education, publications, and professional networks
- Perform training needs analysis via chart audits; identify learning requirements with education team
- Protect patient confidentiality and maintain compliance with personal health information policies
- Ensure all incident reports, patient complaints, and unusual incidents are reported; collaborate with Supervisors, Managers, Director of Medical, and SMS program
- Travel to other KAL-operated regions as required
- Interpret and enforce infection-control policies, medication administration/storage procedures, and controlled substance regulations
- Work with Medical Managers as required, including:
- ◦ Maintain schedule and backfill AMC personnel
- ◦ Coordinate with Medical Director for timely OLMC schedule submissions
- ◦ Prepare and organize monthly reports, stats, and all necessary departmental records
- Manage medevac operations within defined budget parameters
- Perform all other duties as assigned by Director and VP of Medical
REQUIREMENTS Education - University degree in Nursing or Respiratory Therapy
- Advanced Care Paramedic Certificate, or equivalent education and experience
Certifications - Current registration with one of the following:
- ◦ CRNM (College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba) — as a Registered Nurse
- ◦ CPMB (College of Paramedics of Manitoba) — as an Advanced Care Paramedic
- ◦ MARRT (Manitoba Association of Registered Respiratory Therapists) — as a Respiratory Therapist
- Ability to obtain Instructor Certification as required (BCLS, First Aid, ACLS, PALS, PHTLS, CAMATA)
- Valid Canadian Driver’s License
- Valid Canadian Passport
- Ability to apply for and obtain a RAIC Pass
Experience - Strong leadership with progressive management experience (required)
- Previous management experience (asset)
- Previous experience in the medical aviation industry (asset)
Technical Skills - Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word)
Candidate Fit - Aboriginal Awareness and/or Cultural Diversity training
- Demonstrated ability to perform under pressure in mission-critical, time-sensitive environments
- Excellent communication and inter-departmental collaboration skills
