Job Description – Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT)
Title: Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT)
Location: Kamloops, Trail, Cranbrook, Merritt, Haida Gwaii, Dawson Creek, Fort St John, Hazleton, Terrace (British Columbia)
Contract Length: 2 – 12 weeks
Shifts: Days, evenings, and nights (varies by contract)
Compensation:
- T4: $45 – $47 per hour
- Incorporated: $52 – $56 per hour
Travel & Housing: Accommodations and transportation provided
Position Overview: We are seeking experienced
Medical Laboratory Technologists (MLTs) to support Core Lab services across multiple hospitals in British Columbia. These short-term contracts are ideal for professionals who thrive in dynamic lab environments and are looking for competitive compensation, travel coverage, and the opportunity to work in diverse communities across BC.
Responsibilities: - Perform testing and analysis within Core Lab disciplines: Chemistry, Hematology, Accession, and Transfusion Medicine.
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring quality and accuracy.
- Process and analyze specimens efficiently in high-volume hospital settings.
- Document and report test results in compliance with hospital protocols and standards.
- Adhere to safety procedures, infection control, and accreditation requirements.
- Collaborate with healthcare teams to ensure timely and accurate lab support for patient care.
Qualifications: - Minimum 2 years of experience as a Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT).
- Proven experience working in a Core Lab environment (Chemistry, Hematology, Accession, Transfusion Medicine).
- Successful completion of the CSMLS national exam (proof required).
- Strong technical and analytical skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a healthcare team.
- Flexibility to adapt to varying shifts (days, evenings, nights).
Compliance Requirements (to be provided upon confirmation of contract): - Current First Aid or BLS Certification
- Vulnerable Sector Check (completed within the last 12 months)
- Criminal Background Check (completed within the last 12 months)
- Vaccination records (including TB & MMR)
- Mask Fit Test date & type
- Completed compliance checklist (provided upon approval)
