PURPOSE OF POSITION:
The function of the Die Setter is to work safely and efficiently, ensuring set-up schedule and production needs are achieved. It is expected that there is a commitment for never ending improvements and a positive relationship to fellow Team Members and Leaders, while supporting the Magna Employee’s Charter and the policies and procedures of the company.
RESPONSIBILITY AND AUTHORITY:
The Die Setter is responsible for their safety as well as other Team Members’ safety and well-being, overall development and support of other Team Members, health and safety, quality, customer cost, productivity, and ergonomic issues through using the company policies and procedures and the Magna Employee’s Charter as a guideline.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITIONS:
1) Follow and enforce all plant safety rules and policies.
2) Follow and comply with all operational procedures/policies as stated in the employee. Environmental Health and Safety programs and conduct Team Safety Talks as required.

3) Support team in efficient and effective processes to support expeditious flow of NCM material.

4) Support of Team in achieving business goals and objectives
5) - Train the trainer
- Become company's certified crane trainer.
- Be the example by ensuring bolsters are clean, including T Slots(debris, scrap, slugs, oil, dirt). Notify support areas and request a WO to correct issues.
- Ensuring all equipment is available and in good use. (Steel rule, T Bolts, QDC pins).
- Responsible for the proper care and handling of automation.
6) - Flip die
- Must be able to support with tooling crane to remove upper dies and be able to flip them in a safe manner with no support (other than a spotter).
7) - New die setup.
- Must be have the ability to set new dies on the line without assistance. This includes knowing what keys to use for accurate set up. If keys or guiding is not already on the tool or not sufficient, must be able to direct tooling on what to modify on the die.
8) - Timing- Must be able to set lines within the standard time.
- Tandem-90min
- Prog/Transfer- 45min
9) - Can set any line including coil setting.
10) - Safety record
- No safety incidents that are crane related.
11) - Die labeling champion
- Responsible to ensure new and current production dies are labelled properly.(J#, flow direction, QDC pin hole placement, etc.)
12) - Off standard / Technical support.
- Support contractors, maintenance, tooling during equipment installation etc.
13) Follow work instructions to insure TS16949 and ISO 14000-01 standards are being met.
14) Must be able to work with little supervision and be a self-starter.
15) Promote good housekeeping
16) Perform other duties as required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Some of the physical demands for this position include being able to lift up to a weight of 40 pounds and the ability to stand, sit, and walk for prolonged periods of time.

Some of the equipment and tools used are a computer, printer, telephone, photocopier, fax machine, PPE and an assortment of metrology tools. KNOWLEDGE
EDUCATION:
High School Diploma or GED required;
One to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
TECHNICAL TRAINING: GD& T, Weld Standards, Manufacturing Practices, SPC
OTHER: Computer skills; proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Demonstrated proficiency in the use of precision measuring tools including tape measures, scales, Vernier calipers, etc.
Metal Finish experience a plus.
Proficient in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook Express.
PDCA/8D/5 why knowledge a plus.
WORK EXPERIENCE
WHAT TYPES? Experience as a crane operator in the automotive manufacturing environment

The Die Setter works with Press Supervisor to assist in supporting departmental strategies and supports leading team to achieve meeting and exceeding the quality goals and objectives put forth by the customers.
