Location: Durham, NC
Salary: $110,000 - $130,000 (plus bonus)
Bonus: 4-7%
Yearly Raises: 4%

This role will eventually lead to the CFO position, so we’re seeking someone who’s ready to grow with us and invest in the future of our organization.

Position Overview
We are looking for an experienced Financial Controller to manage our financial operations and work closely with the CFO. This role requires someone who is highly skilled in finance/accounting, with a passion for long-term growth and leadership. You’ll manage month-end and year-end close, prepare budgets, work with auditors, and play a key role in our accounting operations. The ideal candidate will have 15+ years of experience, a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, and expertise in Excel.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage financial operations including month-end and year-end close.
• Prepare annual budgets and collaborate with auditors.
• Lead a small accounting team and serve as a servant leader.
• Attend board meetings and communicate with both internal and external stakeholders.
• Handle financial reporting and provide financial insights to guide company decisions.
• Implement and improve accounting systems and processes (strong Excel skills required).
• Ensure the accuracy and integrity of all financial data.

What We’re Looking For:

• 15+ years of professional experience in finance/accounting.
• A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting 
• Strong proficiency in Excel (VLookups, Pivot Tables, etc.).
• Experience with month-end close, year-end close, and annual budgets.
• A servant leader with experience leading a small accounting team.
• Someone seeking long-term growth (this role will eventually lead to CFO).
• A friendly and approachable personality with strong communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Non-profit experience is highly preferred.
• Knowledge of tech/software selection and implementation.
• Experience with payroll, AP, AR, and purchasing.
• Masters in Accounting and CPA certification are a plus.
• Experience working with a board of directors is beneficial.
• Familiarity with Paylocity is a plus.
