A school in Meekatharra, located 750 kilometres north of Perth in the heart of the Mid-West, serves a diverse local population of 700 people and 1,000 across the district. With an enrolment of approximately 150 students from Kindergarten to Year 12, over 90% of the student body identify as Aboriginal.
Many students come from the Ngoonooru Wajarri and Yugunga-Nya family groups and students have the unique opportunity to learn the Wajarri language with expert teachers. Aboriginal and Islander Education Officers (AIEOs) play a vital role in supporting the learning community, providing cultural guidance, and maintaining strong connections between the school and the local community. The school places significant emphasis on literacy and numeracy, student well-being, attendance, and early intervention. The school is part of the MultiLit - Closing the Gap program to support strong literacy foundations for early years children, and for mathematics incorporates Prime Maths. The school has high expectations to become lifelong learners, showing respect for culture themselves and others and striving for a strong future.
As the Health and Physical Education (HPE) teacher, you'll promote physical fitness, healthy living and teamwork through engaging sports, games and fitness activities across the whole school. You'll teach essential movement skills and health education, covering topics such as nutrition, personal hygiene, mental health, healthy relationships, personal safety and positive lifestyle choices. You'll foster teamwork, sportsmanship and fair play while adapting activities to suit diverse needs and abilities. Through your role, you'll build students' confidence, resilience and understanding of their physical, social and emotional wellbeing, encouraging lifelong healthy habits.

This is a full-time permanent position commencing Term 1, 2027. There may opportunities for partners in the town. There is also a lower primary and secondary position available.
