2027: Accommodation, Remote Allowance, Flights, Courses.
A culturally rich school would love to invite a passionate and culturally responsive teacher to join a dedicated team in a remote Aboriginal community in Central Australia to teach the secondary class. Accessible from Alice Springs, this small school has students across both primary and secondary levels, including approximately 10 students in Years 7-12. The small class sizes allow for personalised, relationship-focused teaching.
Students speak Indigenous languages, with English often being their second or third. Teachers work closely with a strong local support team, including an Aboriginal Team Teacher with more than 20 years of experience. The school has a strong sense of connection between educators and the community, creating a welcoming environment where staff feel supported and choose to stay long term.
The school offers a rich and engaging curriculum. In the primary years, students follow the Read Write Inc. program, while in the secondary class students engage in a English Maths and science program created in partnership with a distance education provider. The school is also proud of its local language initiative, where students help convert texts into language to strengthen cultural and linguistic knowledge.
The area is surrounded by vast desert landscapes and striking natural attractions nearby. There are plenty of ways to engage locally, including playing on the men's or women's AFL teams. The community has a range of essential and recreational services including childcare, sports & recreation centre, church, a community store, football oval and a bike track. The community takes great pride in its appearance, with beautifully maintained gardens.
