Located approximately 250 km north-east of Alice Springs in the Utopia (Urapuntja) region, this unique school supports students from FaFT to Year 12 including a network of Homeland Learning Centres across the region. Education is deeply connected to Country, culture and community, with students coming predominantly from Alyawarr and Anmatyerr backgrounds, many of whom are learning English as an additional language. Teaching is grounded in strong relationships, student wellbeing, explicit literacy and numeracy instruction, and culturally responsive practice developed in partnership with local families and Aboriginal educators.
 
The school is seeking two primary teachers with strengths in Literacy and Numeracy to commence in Term 1, 2027. These positions are based in the Homeland Learning Centres, where teachers live in the main community and travel to their allocated homeland school each day. Each Homeland Learning Centre caters for students from Transition to Year 6 and is staffed by two classroom teachers working alongside two Aboriginal Assistant Teachers, creating a highly collaborative team-teaching environment. Teachers also drive the school vehicle to return students home each afternoon, with travel times generally ranging from 15 to 45 minutes.
Teaching in this environment extends well beyond the classroom. Educators build meaningful partnerships with students, families and local staff while gaining a deeper understanding of Aboriginal languages, culture and learning on Country. The community is described as welcoming, supportive and a safe place to live and work, with strong local support networks. This is an excellent opportunity for teachers seeking a rewarding remote experience where they can make a genuine difference and continue developing professionally.
 
Living in the Utopia (Urapuntja) region offers a unique opportunity to experience remote community life surrounded by stunning Central Australian landscapes. Teachers can explore Aboriginal art, including the internationally recognised Utopia art movement, learn about Alyawarr and Anmatyerr Country, language and traditions, and enjoy outdoor activities including camping, four-wheel driving, bushwalking, photography, bird watching and exploring seasonal waterholes and swimming spots when conditions allow. Within a few hours, the Harts Range and East MacDonnell Ranges provide further opportunities to experience the incredible landscapes of Central Australia. Alice Springs is approximately 250 km away and provides access to larger shops, services, sporting facilities, restaurants and events.
 
A secondary teaching position is also available for an enthusiastic educator who enjoys building strong relationships with teenagers and delivering engaging learning programs. This position is based at the main campus.
 
These are full-time positions commencing in Term 1, 2027 on a 12-month contract.  There are opportunities for partners to find work in the wider community. Teaching duos are also welcome to apply.

• Salary between $95,525 - $142,888 plus super (2027 salary)
• Annual remote allowances of $9,894, paid pro-rata fortnightly with salary. $11,836 with dependents.

Requirements
Registered (or ability to) with TRBNT and a NT Working With Children check (Ochre card) in addition to,

• Bachelor's degree in education or equivalent.
• Ability to collaboratively plan, prepare and deliver teaching and learning programs to meet the diverse characteristics, needs and learning styles of students; which are consistent with relevant curriculum policies, work programs and education trends.
• Knowledge of and the ability to implement effective and inclusive teaching and learning processes, including the use of learning technology and assessment.
• Ability to differentiate for a variety of needs.
• Ability to communicate and relate effectively with students, staff and families through appropriate interpersonal skills.
• Ability to plan and apply appropriate behaviour management strategies that contribute to establishing and maintaining a supportive learning environment.
• Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with school staff, parents and members of the local school community to establish and develop productive partnerships, in an intercultural environment to achieve optimal educational outcomes.
• Commitment to maintain current and relevant professional learning and meet Australian Professional Standards for Teachers.
• Strong organisational and administrative skills.
• Ability to build relationships and listen to the needs of the students, school and community.
• Manual drivers licence
