Situated in a coastal community approximately 420 km from Darwin, you have the opportunity to be a part of a teaching team and learn about Aboriginal Culture.
As one of the HPE teachers, you will work across the primary school and occasionally in the secondary school. You will inspire students to stay active, healthy, and confident through fun, inclusive, and engaging physical education programs. From team sports to individual fitness, you will help students develop coordination, strength, and self-belief, while fostering teamwork, fair play, and a love of movement. Your lessons will encourage participation from all students, celebrating effort as much as achievement. You will also have opportunities to lead whole-school activities, sports days, and events that promote active, healthy living.
Teaching takes place on the land of the Kardu Diminin people, where Murrinh-patha and English are taught at the school. The role involves delivering, assessing, and reporting against the Australian Curriculum. The school values love, faith, peace, hope, compassion and forgiveness, celebrating Catholic faith and Aboriginal Spirituality. Colleagues work together to create engaging lessons, foster a positive classroom culture, and contribute to a community where every student feels supported and included. With around 470 students and 120 staff—70 of whom are Indigenous—you'll join a school with a strong community. Secure accommodation is provided.
Implementing a culturally responsive curriculum involves working with Indigenous Teachers, Assistant Teachers and community members in teaching, learning, assessment, and reporting. Teamwork is key. Team teaching focuses on collaboratively planning, teaching, and learning to enhance student outcomes.
