2026 - Accommodation, Remote Allowance, Uplift, Courses.
Are you a passionate Primary or Secondary teacher looking for a unique opportunity to teach, learn, and grow in a bilingual school setting? Do you value strong community connections, immersive cultural experiences, and building meaningful relationships with students and families?
A small, community-focused school located around four hours from Alice Springs is seeking a Year 7-9 Lower Secondary Teacher to work with young men in the Fellas class. The school has about 100 students in total, with class sizes averaging 10 students from the early years through to senior secondary. These small groups allow educators to form strong, lasting connections with their students and make a genuine impact on their educational journey.
Many students have experienced disrupted learning, so the school is looking for a teacher who can build positive, supportive relationships and design hands-on, physically engaging lessons that bring learning to life, including joining community staff on bush learning experiences! Experience or interest in other areas such as PE, Outdoor Education, STEM or Technology, and expressive arts would also be an advantage. The school is a designated bilingual school, blending Warlpiri language and culture with the NT curriculum. Learning is enriched by the On-Country program, which is strongly supported by the community and includes cultural activities such as damper making, fire-based communication, and other traditional practices. Each class is supported by local teacher assistants, ensuring deep engagement and culturally responsive teaching. Literacy at this level focuses on building oral language skills, vocabulary, functional grammar, and the expression of ideas in complete sentences. Numeracy is focused on practical, real-world skills such as time, money, measurement, estimation, and number facts. The school also has a well-equipped radio broadcast station, which provides an excellent tool for student engagement.
Student wellbeing is a clear priority. The school embeds trauma-informed practices, has a full-time counsellor, and works closely with a linguist to support bilingual learning. It is actively developing community leadership in school direction and upholds both restorative practices and high expectations for its learners.
The community is home to the Warlpiri people, who hold a deep connection to their land, language, and traditions. Living and working here offers a chance to immerse yourself in a rich cultural environment while making a profound difference in students' lives. Facilities in the community include a store, health clinic, council services, community centre, and airstrip.
Positions are full-time for 2026 with a strong possibility of extension, and shorter contracts will also be considered. Both Primary and Secondary teachers are encouraged to apply. There may also be opportunities for partners to find work in the community in areas such as youth work, local council, Centrelink-equivalent services, or the Adult Learning Centre.
