Located on the coast of Arnhem Land, approximately 300kms from Jabiru in Kakadu, a large remote school is excited to welcome a Transition teacher (equivalent to prep/pre-primary) to join their dynamic team. This role offers the chance to build strong, meaningful relationships with students, families, and the broader community, allowing you to see the direct impact of your teaching. This large school services students and families from birth to year 12, with a Child and Family Centre, VET training centre a Learning on Country and Language and Culture program. The staff group is large and fosters a great team environment both in and out of school.
  
Located approximately 600 kms from Darwin, in the heart of Arnhem Land, the area is a hub of cultural diversity, providing a rare opportunity to immerse yourself in rich traditions, languages, and customs, fostering a deep understanding and appreciation of Indigenous cultures. There are a variety of different ceremonial practices, styles of art and design, music and dance. There are approximately 3500 people in community with 2 supermarkets, a pool, large clinic, arts centre, police station, a lodge, cafes and take away. There are also AFL and basketball competitions, as well as incredible fishing and camping opportunities. Additionally, there are 2 commercial flights available daily to Darwin.
  
The position is full-time for 2026, with a possibility of extending. There is also Year 1/2 position available.
  
Responsibilities include,

• Planning, preparing and explicitly delivering quality and effective teaching and learning programs, which are consistent with the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers and relevant curriculum policies, work programs and educational trends.
• Supporting students through interaction in a variety of settings and through the active development of supportive learning environments and effective behaviour management practices.
• Providing for the physical, social, cultural and emotional well-being and safety of students whilst at school.
• Regularly assessing students (diagnostic, formative and summative) for developmental, feedback and reporting purposes.
• Maintaining student records and samples of work and report on student performance to students, parents, the department and other stakeholders as required.
• Establishing and maintaining appropriate interpersonal relationships between the school, parents and community.

• Wages between $92,215 - $131,349 (plus super).
• Annual remote allowances of $9,894, paid pro-rata fortnightly with salary. $11,836 with dependents.
• School allowance of $3484.
• Fully subsidised shared accommodation. Most accommodation options are for 2 teachers, so teaching duos/couples are encouraged to apply.
• Fully subsidised electricity.
• Uplift at the beginning of your contract, including personal belongings and a vehicle. For New Zealand teachers, Flights subsidised once you have entered Australia.
• 3 return flights Maningrida to Darwin per year (to be used on school holidays)

All incentives to be finalised with employer.

What You Need to Succeed!
Registered (or ability to) with TRBNT and a NT Working With Children check (ochre card) in addition to,

• Bachelor’s degree in education or equivalent.
• Ability to collaboratively plan, prepare and deliver teaching and learning programs to meet the diverse characteristics, needs and learning styles of students; which are consistent with relevant curriculum policies, work programs and education trends.
• Knowledge of and the ability to implement effective and inclusive teaching and learning processes, including the use of learning technology and assessment.
• Regularly assess students (diagnostic, formative and summative) for developmental, feedback and reporting purposes.
• Maintain student records and samples of work and report on student performance to students, parents, the department and other stakeholders as required.
• Ability to communicate and relate effectively with students, staff and families through appropriate interpersonal skills.
• Ability to plan and apply appropriate behaviour management strategies that contribute to establishing and maintaining a supportive learning environment.
• Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with school staff, parents and members of the local school community in order to establish and develop productive partnerships, in an intercultural environment
• Commitment to maintain current and relevant professional learning and meet Australian Professional Standards for Teachers.
• Strong organisational and administrative skills.
