A unique opportunity awaits at the gateway to the breathtaking Litchfield National Park. Just an hour from Darwin, a remote NT school is seeking a passionate and dedicated Upper Primary (Year 5/6) teacher to join their team in a culturally rich and naturally stunning setting.
Located on Kungarakan and Warrai Land, the school supports around 120 students across preschool, primary, and secondary levels. As the Year 5/6 classroom teacher, you will work with approximately 20 students, supported by two teacher assistants, and deliver engaging, literacy- and numeracy-rich lessons, along with other curriculum areas. The literacy program integrates Read Write Inc. (RWI), and the school embraces a Learning Through Doing approach in mathematics, encouraging hands-on, real-world problem solving. It also partners with a nearby Outdoor Education Centre, which provides students with opportunities in outdoor learning including mountain biking, rock climbing, orienteering, archery, and high and low ropes courses - all designed to build courage, persistence, and resilience.
Just a short drive away, Litchfield is famous for its stunning waterfalls, clear swimming holes, and towering magnetic termite mounds, making it loved by nature lovers and adventurers. Locals and visitors alike enjoy swimming at Wangi Falls, Buley Rockhole, and Florence Falls, all set within lush monsoonal bushland. The park also offers incredible bushwalking trails, scenic lookouts, and 4WD tracks, providing endless opportunities for exploration. Living just one hour from Darwin, you’ll enjoy a unique blend of vibrant culture, outdoor adventure, and a relaxed lifestyle. As the capital of the Northern Territory, Darwin is known for its tropical climate, stunning waterfront, and diverse multicultural community. Its rich cultural tapestry—blending Indigenous heritage with global influences—is celebrated through festivals, markets, and a dynamic culinary scene.
The town has a health clinic, childcare, community centre, a pub, accommodation options, police station, post office, library, banking services, and a general store that offers groceries and fuel.
