Located approximately 3 ½ hours from Halls Creek, a small school is currently seeking a Pre-Primary/Year 1 primary teacher. With approximately 50 students attending daily at the school, each class comprises of approximately 10-12 students. A significant aspect of the school's approach is its strong emphasis on trauma-informed practices. The school runs a strong cultural program, with one class venturing on On-Country each week, as well as time dedicated to visiting the Arts Centre. The primary goal is to equip students with essential skills, abilities, and values to actively participate in their local community and the broader Australian society.
Recognising the pivotal role parents play in their children's education, the school community acknowledges them as the first educators of the students. In partnership with parents, the school nurtures the spiritual, cognitive, emotional, social, and physical growth of the children. Faith, service, and community are the foundational pillars driving this educational journey, embracing the principles of Two-Way Learning to celebrate the diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds of the students.
The local community possesses a vibrant Indigenous language and culture, with Kukatja being the dominant language spoken, in addition to other Western Desert languages such as Walmajarri, Jaru, Pintipi, Warlpiri, and Aboriginal English. The adults in the community are mostly trilingual, and while English may not be widespread among the elderly, most adults speak English.
The community has a petrol station, supermarket, arts centre, church, clinic, police station and airstrip.
This is a full-time primary position for the remainder 2025, with a strong possibility of extending. Short term placements from a term, will be considered.

- Salary between $88,785 - $126,423
- Remote Allowance of $207.42 per fortnight, or $414.83 with dependants
- Calendar year annual bonus $20,000 ($5,000 per term)

What you’ll need to succeed! Registered (or ability to) with TRBWA, a valid WA Working With Children check, in addition to:
- Bachelor of Education (or equivalent qualification).
- Demonstrated comprehensive knowledge of the curriculum, with the ability to adapt and align teaching approaches to meet school programs effectively.
- Strong team player, with the ability to work with school staff and the broader community, while showing respect and support.
- Ability to plan, prepare and deliver teaching and learning programs to cater for the diverse
characteristics, needs and learning styles of students.
- Ability to build connections in an intercultural environment ensuring strong collaboration and communication, to achieve optimal educational outcomes.
- Proficiency in implementing inclusive teaching and learning processes, including the effective use of learning technology and assessment.
- Good administrative skills.
- Proficiency in implementing appropriate behaviour management strategies to foster and maintain a supportive and conducive learning environment.
- While not mandatory to be of the Christian faith, candidates must support the ethos of faith, service, and community upheld by the school.
