Are you wanting to harness your passion as an early childhood teacher to create a meaningful impact?
Are you adept at fostering student-centred learning environments? An exciting opportunity awaits on the stunning coast of the Pilbara for an early childhood teacher!
Situated along the West Pilbara coast on Ngarluma country, an early years position is currently available from Term 2! Use your passion as a skilled educator to facilitate the KindiLink program two days a week, teach in Pre-Primary class one day a week, and ECE intervention support across K-2 for two days a week. Catering to students from Kindergarten to Year 12, the students predominantly come from three primary language groups - the Ngarluma people who are the traditional owners of the land, the Yindjibarndi people and the Banyjima people.
KindiLink is a play-and-learn initiative for Aboriginal children aged 0-3 year olds and their caregivers. You will aim to provide children and their families with a positive, supported transition to school through quality early learning experiences. Children and their parents have the opportunity to attend six hours each week. In partnership with Aboriginal and Islander education officers, you will base learning activities on the Early Years Learning Framework to develop the social, emotional, language and cognitive abilities of the children. You will receive 3a (Abecedarian Approach Australia) training to facilitate learning games used with families. You will also participate in a state conference in Perth annually with all other KindiLink programs. The KindiLink is delivered 0.4FTE. You will teach in the Pre-Primary 0.2 FTE where experience with Teaching for Impact, Berry Street Education Model, MultiLit, and/or Living STEM is highly desirable. For the remaining 0.4FTE, you will facilitate ECE intervention across K – Year 2 through small literacy groups. There are small class sizes which enable teachers to build strong relationships with their students. Emphasising cultural responsiveness, you will actively foster positive relationships with students, parents, colleagues, and the wider community. You will be committed to ongoing professional growth and development and support current school-wide processes. Joining a collaborative school environment, your adeptness in working within a team setting will be valued.
The western coast of the Pilbara offers a range of attractions including Millstream Chichester National Park with its picturesque landscapes and opportunities for camping, bushwalking, and wildlife spotting. Off the coast, the Dampier Archipelago has pristine beaches, coral reefs, and popular activities like fishing, snorkelling, and boating. On the Burrup Peninsula, also known as Murujuga, visitors can explore one of the world's largest collections of Aboriginal rock art through guided tours. There are boating and fishing adventures to be had along the coast as well.
This position is full time for the remainder of 2025, with a strong possibility to extend. There is also a Year 2-4 primary position available at the school. Shorter term placements will be considered.
