Are you a passionate and engaging primary teacher looking to thrive in a remote community setting? Do you have the knowledge to create and deliver a learning program that caters to the diverse needs, characteristics, and learning styles of students? Situated near the stunning Tjoritja/MacDonnell Ranges, approximately 3 hours from Alice Springs, this school serves around 100 students, with approximately 15 in the primary classes. As the Year 3/4 teacher, you will work alongside a local assistant teacher, focusing on phonics, reading, and integrating local language into the curriculum. This is a unique opportunity to positively impact students' educational outcomes while working in an environment that values cultural sensitivity, collaboration, and learning from the local community. Residing in this Central Desert community, you will be immersed in a significant centre for contemporary Indigenous Australian art and culture.
 
There are many amazing destinations to explore a few hours away, as the school is close to the Meerenie Loop and Tjoritja/West MacDonnell areas. Highlights include Glen Helen Gorge, a serene waterhole surrounded by towering red cliffs, perfect for swimming or picnicking; Ormiston Gorge, renowned for hiking, swimming, and photography; and the iconic Ormiston Pound Walk, a half-day trek through dramatic landscapes. Ellery Creek Big Hole offers a stunning waterhole ideal for swimming and picnics, while Standley Chasm boasts scenic walking trails, especially magical at midday when the sunlight illuminates the gorge. For those up for a longer adventure, the majestic Kings Canyon in Watarrka National Park is about 4 hours away, where you can walk the rim.
 
Responsibilities include,

• Planning, preparing and explicitly delivering quality and effective teaching and learning programs, which are consistent with the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers and relevant curriculum policies, work programs and educational trends.
• Supporting students through interaction in a variety of settings and through the active development of supportive learning environments and effective behaviour management practices.
• Providing for the physical, social, cultural and emotional well-being and safety of students whilst at school.
• Regularly assessing students (diagnostic, formative and summative) for developmental, feedback and reporting purposes.
• Maintaining student records and samples of work and report on student performance to students, parents, the department and other stakeholders as required.
• Establishing and maintaining appropriate interpersonal relationships between the school, parents and community.

Positions are full-time for the remainder of 2025, with a possibility of extending. There are opportunities for partners including grounds, maintenance and repair work.

• Wages between $92,215 - $131,349 plus super.
• Annual remote allowances of $9,894 paid pro-rata fortnightly with salary. $11,836 with dependents.

Requirements
Registered (or ability to) with TRBNT and a NT Working With Children check (ochre card) in addition to,

• Bachelor’s degree in education or equivalent.
• Ability to collaboratively plan, prepare and deliver teaching and learning programs to meet the diverse characteristics, needs and learning styles of students; which are consistent with relevant curriculum policies, work programs and education trends.
• Knowledge of and the ability to implement effective and inclusive teaching and learning processes, including the use of learning technology and assessment.
• Ability to differentiate for a variety of needs.
• Ability to communicate and relate effectively with students, staff and families through appropriate interpersonal skills.
• Ability to plan and apply appropriate behaviour management strategies that contribute to establishing and maintaining a supportive learning environment.
• Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with school staff, parents and members of the local school community in order to establish and develop productive partnerships, in an intercultural environment to achieve optimal educational outcomes.
• Commitment to maintain current and relevant professional learning and meet Australian Professional Standards for Teachers.
• Strong organisational and administrative skills.
• Ability to build relationships and listen to the needs of the students, school and community.
