Would you love the opportunity to teach at a small community led school in the Kimberley?
Southeast of Fitzroy Crossing on the edge of the Great Sandy Desert and surrounded by the Saint George Ranges, a small school is inviting a K – Year 4 teacher. Situated on Walmajarri Country, this small, community-focused school provides an enriching teaching experience in a culturally significant setting. With 20 students from Kindergarten to Year 10, class sizes average 12 students per class, each supported by a teacher assistant. The school follows a modified curriculum tailored to student needs, with a strong emphasis on numeracy and literacy development. Teachers are encouraged to incorporate On-Country learning, creating meaningful connections between students, their education, and their cultural heritage.
As part of a small community of approximately 50 people, the school plays a vital role in daily life, fostering strong relationships between educators, students, and families. Situated 2.5 hours from Fitzroy Crossing, this remote setting offers a lifestyle immersed in nature, tradition, and a deep sense of community. Despite its remoteness, the school provides a supportive and welcoming environment, ideal for educators eager to make a lasting impact. All children come to school with English as their second or third language. Their home language environment is a combination of Walmajarri and Kriol and English to varying degrees.
The school would like to welcome a full-time K – Year 4 teacher, with preference for a one year contract. There is also the possibility of employment for a non-teaching partner/friend who would help with maintenance, gardening and cooking.
