Located in Darwin, a diverse and innovative school is seeking a range of primary teachers for Transition (Foundation) to Year 5. With around 600 students ranging from Preschool to Year 6, the school emphasises academic achievement, particularly in literacy and numeracy. Students benefit from a rich and engaging learning experience through explicit teaching, play-based activities, inquiry, and project-based learning. The school follows a comprehensive Science of Reading approach, using structured literacy that focuses on phonemic awareness, phonics, vocabulary, fluency, and reading comprehension. MiniLit and MultiLit programs are utilised for reading interventions. The school also provides a rigorous arts program, which helps children succeed not only in school but in society, fostering intelligence and lifelong success. Teachers collaborate in teams, continually reflecting on and improving their professional practices to create the best possible learning environment. The school serves a multicultural community, with 65% of students coming from Languages Other Than English (LOTE) backgrounds. These are full-time positions with flexibility to begin in Term 4 or in 2025. The roles are for a one-year contract with the possibility of extension. Shorter placements may be considered for the right candidates. Opportunities are also available for a preschool teacher and a specialist music teacher.
Responsibilities include,
- Planning, preparing and explicitly delivering quality and effective teaching and learning programs, which are consistent with the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers and relevant curriculum policies, work programs and educational trends.
- Supporting students through interaction in a variety of settings and through the active development of supportive learning environments and effective behaviour management practices.
- Providing for the physical, social, cultural and emotional well-being and safety of students whilst at school.
- Regularly assessing students (diagnostic, formative and summative) for developmental, feedback and reporting purposes.
- Maintaining student records and samples of work and report on student performance to students, parents, the department and other stakeholders as required.
- Establishing and maintaining appropriate interpersonal relationships between the school, parents and community.

What You Need to Succeed! Registered (or ability to) with TRBNT and a NT Working With Children check (ochre card) in addition to,
- Bachelor’s degree in education or equivalent.
- Ability to collaboratively plan, prepare and deliver teaching and learning programs to meet the diverse characteristics, needs and learning styles of students; which are consistent with relevant curriculum policies, work programs and education trends.
- Knowledge of and the ability to implement effective and inclusive teaching and learning processes, including the use of learning technology and assessment.
- Regularly assess students (diagnostic, formative and summative) for developmental, feedback and reporting purposes.
- Maintain student records and samples of work and report on student performance to students, parents, the department and other stakeholders as required.
- Ability to communicate and relate effectively with students, staff and families through appropriate interpersonal skills.
- Ability to plan and apply appropriate behaviour management strategies that contribute to establishing and maintaining a supportive learning environment.
- Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with school staff, parents and members of the local school community in order to establish and develop productive partnerships, in an intercultural environment
- Commitment to maintain current and relevant professional learning and meet Australian Professional Standards for Teachers.
