Lawyer / Associate – Boutique Firm Doing Law Differently
Melbourne-based | Hybrid working model
Banking & Finance | Insolvency & Restructuring | Commercial Litigation
Open to Australian citizens or permanent residents only
We’re working with a boutique legal practice that’s steadily growing and building a strong national reputation. With a focus on banking, finance, insolvency, and commercial matters, the firm works exclusively with blue-chip clients — including major lenders, listed entities, and private corporates. Please note they are not a debt collection agency.
As part of their continued growth, they’re looking to welcome a Lawyer or Associate with 2–6 years of post-admission experience to join their close-knit Melbourne-based team. The current team is four and expanding, and the role is offered on a hybrid basis — blending flexibility, autonomy and a highly collaborative working environment. The firm is focused on quality legal work, strong client outcomes, and doing law in a way that genuinely supports its people.
Why this firm?
This isn’t a traditional law firm — and that’s exactly the point.
The team is driven by the desire to do things differently: high-quality work without the rigid hierarchy or outdated culture. You’ll be surrounded by experienced, capable lawyers who enjoy what they do and want to work with like-minded people.
They:
•Specialise in insolvency and restructuring, including administrations and receiverships (not debt collection)
•Operate across State and Federal jurisdictions, working on high-quality matters for well-known clients
•Are steadily growing, with plans to expand beyond the current team of four
•Have earned places on lender panels typically reserved for top-tier firms
•Offer genuine flexibility, autonomy, and a culture built on respect and trust
What they’re looking for:
•A lawyer with 2–6 years’ post-admission experience in litigation, finance, insolvency, or commercial law
•Someone with a strong interest or background in finance and accounting, especially within an insolvency context
•A professional who’s admitted in Victoria and currently based in Melbourne
•Strong communicator – confident managing files, deadlines, and court processes
•A proactive, thoughtful team member who enjoys collaborating and contributing to continuous improvement
•Open to full-time candidates (part-time can be considered for the right person)
What’s on offer:
•Work with respected blue-chip clients across a range of industries
•Join a growing, tight-knit team where your input and ideas are truly valued
•Enjoy a hybrid model that supports balance and flexibility
•Be part of a firm that’s genuinely different – and proud of it
•Competitive salary aligned with your experience and contribution
