Role overview
Responsible for designing, configuring, and supporting SAP S/4HANA Materials Management with a strong focus on procurement processes involving subcontracting, bill of materials (BOM) integration, and material requirements planning (MRP).
Key responsibilities
Design and configure end-to-end subcontracting procurement processes in S/4HANA, including purchase order types, movement types, and vendor stock visibility.
Set up and maintain subcontracting-relevant master data: material masters, vendor masters, purchasing info records, source lists and subcontracting MRP areas per vendor where applicable.
Configure and optimise MRP at plant and MRP-area level, including MRP type, lot sizing, planning strategies, and special procurement keys for subcontracting.
Ensure correct integration of subcontracting flows with inventory management and automatic account determination.
Lead or support fit-2-standard workshops, gather business requirements, write functional specifications and system design documents.
Analyse MRP and subcontracting exceptions, propose process or configuration improvements, and guide business users on best practices for subcontracting planning and execution.
Ensure data quality and BOM accuracy for subcontracted materials, including governance processes for BOM changes impacting procurement and planning.
Skills and experience
5+ years of experience as an SAP MM or S/4HANA Sourcing & Procurement consultant, including at least one full S/4HANA implementation.
Deep hands-on expertise in: purchasing, info records, source lists, release strategies, pricing and inventory management.
Proven experience delivering subcontracting scenarios with BOM explosion in purchasing, vendor stock management, and end-to-end process from PO to invoice.
Strong knowledge of MRP in S/4HANA (MRP Live, MRP at plant/MRP-area level, planning parameters, exception handling) and its interaction with procurement and BOM data.
Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, including running workshops and training end users on subcontracting and MRP processes
Must have the right to work in Australia and be located in Melbourne
