Location: Epping, VIC | Travel: 3-5 days/month to Perth

With three stores in Australia and an industry-leading online presence, the business recently expanded by absorbing a global specialist brand and plans to open a fourth store in the near future. Their mission is simple: provide customers with a superior shopping experience that combines high-quality products, expert advice, and engaging brand stories.
 
The Role
 
Reporting directly to the Managing Director, the General Manager - Retail & Sales will be responsible for driving sales performance, customer experience, and team excellence across all channels. This is a hands-on leadership role for a commercial, sales-obsessed operator who thrives in physical retail and understands how to translate brand value into customer engagement and profit growth.
 
You will:

• Lead and inspire retail, e-commerce, and wholesale teams to deliver consistent sales growth and exceptional customer experiences.
• Analyse and optimise sales performance, gross margin, and expenses across all stores and channels.
• Shape and structure teams, building high-performing sales leaders across retail, e-commerce, and support functions.
• Oversee daily operations to ensure seamless in-store execution, brand storytelling, and customer satisfaction.
• Partner with the Managing Director to plan and execute growth strategies for the next 12 months.
• Maintain a hands-on presence in stores, modelling sales best practice and customer engagement.

 
Who We're Looking For

• Proven sales-led leadership experience in physical retail of desirable brands (examples: specialty tools, premium electronics, men's or lifestyle retail).
• Strong understanding of e-commerce sales, with the ability to integrate online and in-store customer journeys.
• A doer, not a distant strategist — comfortable making quick decisions, leading from the front, and driving results in the next 12 months.
• Exceptional people leadership, capable of motivating teams, structuring roles, and coaching sales leaders to achieve commercial goals.
• Commercially astute, with experience managing P&L, gross margin, and operational performance.
• Comfortable travelling to Perth (3-5 days per month) as required.
• Ambition to grow with the business, with potential for a more senior leadership role in the future.
