GenusPlus Group is a rapidly growing ASX-listed organisation delivering end-to-end engineering, construction and maintenance services across the power, communications, environmental and infrastructure sectors.
As Genus Services enters its next phase of growth, we are seeking an experienced Pre Contracts, Bids & Commercial Manager to establish and lead our front-end commercial capability.
Reporting directly to the Executive General Manager – Genus Services, this newly created leadership role will work closely with the Executive General Manager, GM Strategy & Growth, operational leaders, estimating, finance, legal and business development teams to strengthen tender governance, commercial discipline and contract risk management across the business.
This is a hands-on leadership role suited to a commercially minded professional who enjoys working collaboratively across the business, improving processes, challenging assumptions and driving strong commercial outcomes.
About the Role
The Pre Contracts, Bids & Commercial Manager is responsible for building disciplined front-end capability across opportunity shaping, capture planning, bid strategy, tender governance, estimating challenge, commercial review, contract risk management, procurement input and bid-to-delivery handover.
Initially, the role will operate as a hands-on commercial leader while supporting the development of the tendering, bid support and commercial capability as Genus Services continues to grow.
Working closely with operational leaders and subject matter experts, you will help ensure opportunities are converted into compelling, compliant and commercially sound tenders and contracts.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the pre-contracts, bid and tender governance process across Genus Services.
- Develop bid strategies, capture plans, customer positioning and submission strategies.
- Establish and maintain bid/no-bid disciplines, tender review processes and approval frameworks.
- Lead tender kick-off meetings, review sessions and submission governance.
- Review estimating assumptions, pricing models and commercial positions.
- Identify, assess and manage commercial, contractual and delivery risks before contract award.
- Support contract negotiations, commercial departures and risk mitigation strategies.
- Improve bid-to-delivery handover processes and commercial governance.
- Work closely with estimating, operations and procurement teams to strengthen commercial outcomes.
- Build practical systems, templates, bid libraries and governance processes that improve consistency and support business growth.
- Lead and develop the pre-contracts, bid support and commercial capability as the business expands.
About You To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- Significant experience in pre-contracts, bid leadership, commercial management, tendering, contracts management or a related contractor services environment.
- Experience within utilities, telecommunications, energy, infrastructure services, asset management, environmental services, construction, engineering, resources or maintenance contracting.
- Demonstrated experience leading front-end tender strategy, capture planning, proposal leadership and bid governance.
- Strong commercial judgement with the ability to identify contract, pricing and delivery risks before contract award.
- Experience working with estimating teams, operational leaders and subject matter experts to develop competitive and commercially sound submissions.
- Excellent stakeholder management, negotiation, analytical and communication skills.
- A practical, hands-on approach with the ability to work effectively within a lean leadership team.
- Qualifications in contracts, commercial/business law, business management, construction management, project management or a related discipline will be highly regarded.
