Quantity Surveyor 

Civil Engineering & Infrastructure

Location: Wakefield, West Yorkshire
Salary: Up to £50,000 DOE
Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time

The Opportunity
We are working with a well-established and highly regarded civil engineering and infrastructure contractor who is looking to appoint an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their growing commercial team in Wakefield.

This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded Quantity Surveyor to become involved in the delivery of infrastructure projects, taking responsibility for the financial and contractual aspects of projects from initial stages through to final account.

The successful candidate will join a supportive and experienced team, working within a business that places a strong emphasis on quality, collaboration and long-term career development.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the commercial and financial aspects of civil engineering and infrastructure projects.
• Prepare and manage valuations, cost reports and final accounts.
• Monitor project budgets, expenditure and financial performance.
• Identify and manage commercial risks, ensuring projects remain financially on track.
• Oversee subcontractor procurement, including tendering, negotiations and account management.
• Ensure contractual obligations are met and commercial procedures are followed.
• Work closely with operational teams, project managers and other stakeholders to support successful project delivery.
• Maintain accurate commercial records and provide regular financial updates.

About You

We are keen to speak with Quantity Surveyors who have experience working within civil engineering, construction or infrastructure environments.
Ideally, you will have:

• Previous experience in a Quantity Surveying or commercial role within construction or infrastructure.
• A good understanding of commercial management, cost control and subcontractor management.
• Knowledge of NEC forms of contract would be advantageous.
• Strong communication, negotiation and organisational skills.
• The ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively as part of a wider project team.
• A proactive approach with strong attention to detail and commercial awareness.
