Our client is a is a trusted leader in rotating equipment repairs and maintenance, working across a diverse range of industries with a strong focus on the wastewater sector. They hold long-term framework agreements with several major Water Authorities across the North of England.
They are now looking for an experienced and motivated Lead Fitter to join their maintenance team. In this role, you will take responsibility for the inspection, servicing, and repair of CSO screening systems and associated mechanical equipment, ensuring that performance and compliance standards are consistently met.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintenance & Repairs:
Perform planned and reactive maintenance on wastewater treatment screens and related mechanical equipment. This work will involve entry into confined spaces. - Fault Diagnosis:
Identify, diagnose, and repair mechanical issues wherever possible. Produce detailed reports to support any additional works required. - Documentation & Compliance:
Maintain accurate service and maintenance records, complete reports, and ensure all work complies with environmental and safety regulations. - Health & Safety:
Work to the highest safety standards, adhering to company and client health and safety procedures at all times. - Technical Proficiency:
Apply sound mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation knowledge in day-to-day maintenance and troubleshooting tasks.
Required Skills & Qualifications - NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Ability to interpret and follow maintenance task lists and schedules
- Excellent teamwork and communication abilities
- Physically capable of working in confined spaces and outdoor environments
- Full UK driving licence (essential)
Travel Requirements - Willingness to travel across the Yorkshire region for maintenance visits
- Some out-of-hours work (nights and weekends) may be required and will be planned in advance
- Company van, mobile phone, and tablet/laptop provided
Preferred Experience - Experience with CSO screening systems (advantageous but not essential)
- Background in maintenance of mechanical rotating equipment
- Previous experience in wastewater or utilities maintenance roles
