Our client is a leading provider of rotating equipment repairs across a broad
spectrum of clients and in particular the water sector, having long term framework
contracts with several major Water Authorities in the North of England.
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Pump Fitter to join our team. The successful candidate
will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of pumping systems in
various industrial and commercial settings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install and assemble a range of pump systems, including centrifugal, diaphragm, and
screw pumps, in compliance with engineering drawings, specifications, and safety
standards. - Perform regular maintenance on pumps and associated systems, ensuring optimal
performance and minimal downtime. - Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults in pump systems and take corrective action
to resolve issues efficiently. - Carry out routine inspections of pump systems to ensure safety and functionality, and
conduct pressure and flow tests. - Adhere to all health, safety, and environmental regulations on-site to ensure the safety
of yourself and others. - Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, and maintenance activities for
reporting purposes and future reference. - Work closely with engineers, supervisors, and other site personnel to complete tasks
on time and to a high standard.
Requirements - Proven experience as a Pump Fitter or in a similar mechanical maintenance role.
- Sound knowledge of pump systems, including installation, maintenance, and
troubleshooting techniques. - Strong understanding of mechanical systems and related tools/equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documents.
- Good knowledge of health and safety regulations and best practices.
- Experience in working with a variety of pumps such as centrifugal, screw, diaphragm,
or peristaltic is essential. - Relevant qualifications (e.g., City & Guilds, NVQ, or similar) or time-served
apprenticeship is highly desirable. - Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Good communication and problem-solving skills.
- Full UK driving license is advantageous, as site visits may be required.
Desirable - Experience working in a specific industry such as water treatment, oil and gas, or
manufacturing.
