The opportunity:

Falls Creek Ski Patrol is looking for a dedicated Ski Patrol Manager to support our Ski Patrol Director in leading and operating our ski patrol team, ensuring the safety and enjoyment of all visitors and staff at our resort.
As a Ski Patrol Manager, you will play a vital role in maintaining the highest standards of safety and service on the slopes. You will be responsible for developing and implementing guidelines, building effective relationships with internal teams and external stakeholders, and addressing operational challenges. Your ability to work independently, make informed decisions, and apply relevant business plans and policies will be key to your success in this role.
A significant part of your responsibilities will involve overseeing the Ski Patrollers, including Volunteers. You will supervise their daily activities, assign training sessions, and ensure they adhere to Mountain Awareness policies. Your leadership will be crucial in promoting a Health & Safety focused culture within the team, ensuring compliance with Occupational Health & Safety legislative requirements. Additionally, you will be responsible for developing training programs, overseeing projects, and ensuring that all Ski Patrol buildings, utilities, and equipment are maintained to a high standard.

Key responsibilities:
Manage daily operational leadership responsibilities for the Ski Patrol when requested by the Ski Patrol Director, for example:
- Providing leadership to the Ski Patrol team on all matters relating to the role, including effectively coaching, mentoring and motivating staff.
- Conducting morning briefing meetings for the Ski Patrol team.
- Assigning and overseeing daily openings and sweeps and responding to callouts etc as required.
- Monitoring ski area risk management and authorizing area openings or closures based on snow and weather conditions.
- Supervising Ski Patrollers, including Volunteers, and assigning training sessions and miscellaneous tasks.
- Promoting Mountain Awareness policies and ensuring visitors ski/snowboard/toboggan safely.
- Leading by example in the promotion of a Health & Safety focused culture within the Ski Patrol team and ensuring compliance to Occupational Health & Safety legislative requirements.
- Reporting significant incidents to the Ski Patrol Director.
- Act as the Ski Patrol Director’s official delegate during periods when the Ski Patrol Director has authorised this to occur.
- Developing and distributing a weekly Ski Patrol Roster.
- Assigning and overseeing the completion of miscellaneous projects and tasks by the Ski Patrol team.
- Developing and continually improving operating procedures for the Ski Patrol, including ensuring that the Ski Patrol Manual is kept up-to-date.
- Ensuring that all Ski Patrol buildings, utilities and equipment and are always maintained to a high standard and in proper working order.
- Ensuring that Incident Investigations and reporting relating to various matters is undertaken and completed to the highest standard
What amazing skills and experience will score you this role? - Minimum 6 years Ski Patrol experience
- Minimum 2 years’ experience working in a leadership role
- ASPA Advanced Emergency Care first aid qualification
- Extensive knowledge of ski resort operations
- Extensive knowledge of Falls Creek resort, community, attractions and services
- Certificate IV in Training & Assessment (desirable)
- Training and practical experience in steep snow & ice-based rope rescue (desirable)
- Training and practical experience in avalanche hazard management and avalanche rescue (desirable)
- Training and practical experience in search & rescue (desirable)
- Outstanding leadership skills and the ability to effectively coach, mentor and motivate staff
- High level of computer literacy in Microsoft Office and other applicable programs
- Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills.
The successful candidate will be required to: - Have full Australian working rights. International applicants are required to obtain their own visa with valid Australian work rights
- Currently hold or be willing to obtain a Victorian Working with Children Check – Employee type
- Have an Australian drivers licence (Victorian licence preferred)
- Satisfactorily pass a police check and random drug & alcohol tests
- Available to work weekends and school holidays
- Available from early May to late October

Salary: $63.65 p/h including casual loading
