About Yoko Dining Located beneath the iconic Story Bridge on the Brisbane River, Yoko Dining brings the energy of Tokyo’s nightlife to Howard Smith Wharves. Our menu spans from premium sashimi to wagyu grilled over hibachi, paired with inventive cocktails and a progressive wine list—from classic old-world to new natural wines.

The Role

We’re on the hunt for a passionate and experienced Sous Chef to join our dynamic kitchen team at Yoko. Working closely with our Head Chef, you’ll help lead day-to-day kitchen operations, drive culinary excellence, and develop a team of over 20 chefs. This is a key leadership role in one of Brisbane’s most exciting venues.

What You’ll Be Doing:

• Collaborate with the Head Chef on seasonal, innovative menus that celebrate Japanese flavours and premium produce
• Oversee kitchen operations, including prep, service, and maintaining high food quality standards
• Manage food costs and assist in achieving financial targets
• Mentor, train, and support the growth of junior chefs and kitchen staff
• Foster a positive, team-oriented kitchen culture

We’re Looking for Someone Who:

• Has strong leadership experience as a Sous Chef in high-volume, premium restaurants
• Brings a deep understanding of Asian cuisine—Japanese experience highly regarded
• Is passionate about great food, quality ingredients, and continuous improvement
• Is hands-on, organised, and thrives under pressure
• Loves mentoring and building a strong team culture
