Waikato Waters is a brand-new, publicly owned water utility bringing together water and wastewater services across the Waikato region — built from the ground up to deliver for communities today and for generations to come.
 
Te tūranga | The role
As a contributing member of the Executive Leadership Team, the Pou Hononga ā-Iwi is Waikato Water's senior authority on kaupapa Māori — providing leadership, guidance and credibility across all matters involving Māori relationships, Te Tiriti obligations and tikanga. This role leads iwi engagement across multiple rohe and ensures te ao Māori is embedded in how the organisation thinks, plans and acts.
 
Ō mahi | What you'll do

• Provide senior guidance on tikanga, te ao Māori and Te Tiriti o Waitangi obligations across strategy, policy and decision-making
• Lead and sustain trusted iwi and Māori engagement across multiple rohe
• Oversee implementation of Māori partnership agreements and ensure obligations are met
• Embed Māori philosophies and values into organisational frameworks and ways of working
• Strengthen cultural capability and confidence across leaders and teams
• Represent Waikato Waters in key engagements and uphold tikanga Māori and te reo Māori to a credible standard

You bring deep personal knowledge of te ao Māori, tikanga and te reo Māori — and established credibility and relationships within iwi and Māori communities across the Waikato.

• Deep personal knowledge of te ao Māori, tikanga Māori, te reo Māori and Te Tiriti o Waitangi
• Established relationships and credibility within iwi and Māori communities across the Waikato region
• Demonstrated experience leading Māori engagement and partnership at a senior organisational level
• Experience embedding Māori values and frameworks into organisational strategy and practice
• Confidence engaging at executive and governance level
