Te tūranga | The role

As our Growth and Planning Interface Lead you will own the connection between council planning, community growth, and infrastructure delivery. You’ll be the go-to person for turning development ambitions into practical, reliable water and wastewater solutions. This is a high-impact, high-visibility role — influencing council decisions, shaping masterplans, and ensuring every new development is supported by robust, affordable infrastructure.

Ō mahi | What you’ll do

• Be the primary interface with councils on planning, growth, and development matters
• Lead engagement on District Plan changes, structure plans, spatial plans, and growth strategies
• Translate growth demand into practical servicing and infrastructure advice
• Coordinate cross-functional inputs to support business cases, investment prioritisation, and master planning
• Provide timely, consistent, evidence-based responses to consents, plan changes, and development proposals
• Identify and escalate risks that could impact delivery, service outcomes, or affordability
• Build strong stakeholder relationships across councils, developers, Treaty Partners, and internal teams

Ō pūkenga | What you’ll bring

• Level 7 qualification in planning, engineering, infrastructure, or related field (or equivalent experience)
• Proven experience at the interface of council planning and infrastructure delivery
• Strong understanding of NZ planning and development frameworks
• Skilled at translating growth and demand into actionable, prioritised infrastructure advice
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and negotiation skills
• Proven ability in balancing competing priorities while providing clear, evidence-based guidance
• Bonus: MNZPI membership, CPEng status, or equivalent professional accreditation
