Waikato Waters is a brand-new, publicly owned water utility bringing together water and wastewater services across the Waikato region — built from the ground up to deliver for communities today and for generations to come.
Te tūranga | The role
Reporting to the Procurement Manager, our Buyers are the operational backbone of Waikato Waters procurement function — ensuring suppliers, contracts and inventory structures are accurately established and maintained so the business gets what it needs, from the right suppliers, at the right time and cost.
Two roles are available - one permanent and one 12-month fixed term contract.
Ō mahi | What you’ll do
- Ensure suppliers and contracts are correctly established in procurement systems
- Process purchase requisitions accurately and in a timely manner
- Assist the organisation to resolve purchasing issues and goods returns
- Monitor compliance with procurement policy
- Manage inventory items and warehouses in line with agreed standards
- Identify opportunities for efficiency and cost savings in purchasing practices
Ō pūkenga | What you’ll bring You are a procurement professional with strong ERP experience, a systematic approach to data and a service-oriented mindset — reliable, accurate and easy to work with.
- Post-secondary qualification in Commerce, Supply Chain Management or similar, and 3 years’ procurement experience; or 10+ years of relevant industry experience
- Experience with ERP software (SAP, NetSuite, Infor or similar)
- Strong attention to detail and systematic approach to data management
- Excellent communication skills and a helpful, service-oriented approach
