Housekeeper / Family Assistant – Private Household
Location: Upper Manhattan, New York, NY
Schedule: Full-Time, Monday–Friday | 11AM-7PM Summer: June - August // Tuesday - Friday 9AM-7PM in Hamptons (additional pay during summer months)
Compensation: $45–$55 per hour, plus benefits
Job Description
A private family in Upper Manhattan is seeking an experienced, organized, and dependable Housekeeper / Family Assistant to support the daily operations of their home. This position is ideal for a proactive professional who takes pride in maintaining a clean, organized household and enjoys providing hands-on support to a family with a young child.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, flexible, and comfortable balancing housekeeping responsibilities with light family assistance, errands, and general household coordination. The family values someone who is reliable, takes initiative, and works well as part of a team.
Responsibilities

• Perform daily housekeeping, including tidying, dusting, vacuuming, mopping, and maintaining clean, organized living spaces.
• Maintain household organization and ensure the home remains neat and presentable throughout the day.
• Handle kitchen cleanup after dinner, including washing dishes, loading and unloading the dishwasher, wiping countertops, and keeping the kitchen organized.
• Prepare simple family meals as needed.
• Complete occasional deep-cleaning tasks and seasonal household organization as required.
• Run local errands, manage packages and deliveries, and assist with general household needs.
• Offer occasional assistance to parents with general family needs and provide light support in a home with a young child.
• Assist with household preparation and cleanup during family gatherings and special occasions.
• Coordinate with the weekly professional cleaning service to help maintain the home's overall cleanliness and organization.
• Travel with the family during the summer season as needed, following a modified weekday schedule.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a private housekeeper, family assistant, household assistant, or housekeeper/family assistant in a private residence.
• Strong housekeeping skills and a keen eye for detail.
• Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
• Valid driver's license and comfort with light local driving in Hamptons.
• Comfortable working in a household with a young child and providing occasional family assistance.
• Dependable, trustworthy, proactive, and able to work independently.
• Flexible and willing to adjust to the family's needs, including seasonal summer travel.
• Professional demeanor, discretion, and respect for household privacy.
• Strong communication skills and a team-oriented attitude.

Compensation and Benefits

• Hourly rate: $45–$55, depending on experience.
