Garden & Greenhouse Assistant
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–2:00 PM (includes 30-minute lunch)
Hours: 32.5 hours per week to start
Compensation: $25–$27/hour, based on experience
Position Summary
We are seeking a dependable, hands-on Garden & Greenhouse Assistant to support the daily operations of a thriving garden and greenhouse environment. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about plant care, enjoys working both indoors and outdoors, and thrives in a detail-oriented, fast-paced growing environment.
The ideal candidate will have experience with greenhouse propagation, plant maintenance, and garden care, and will play a key role in ensuring healthy plant production from seed to harvest.
Key Responsibilities

• Assist with greenhouse operations including seeding, propagation, transplanting, watering, fertilizing, and climate monitoring
• Maintain optimal growing conditions in the greenhouse (temperature, humidity, ventilation, irrigation systems)
• Support garden production, including planting, weeding, pruning, trellising, and harvesting
• Monitor plant health and identify or report pests, diseases, or nutrient deficiencies
• Assist with integrated pest management and organic growing practices where applicable
• Harvest, clean, and prepare plants or produce for use or distribution
• Maintain clean, organized greenhouse and garden spaces, including tool care and storage areas
• Support seasonal garden transitions, bed preparation, composting, and soil management
• Assist with inventory of seeds, plants, and growing supplies
• Follow all safety and sanitation protocols

Qualifications & Experience

• Previous experience in greenhouse operations, horticulture, or garden maintenance preferred
• Knowledge of plant care, propagation techniques, and seasonal growing cycles
• Familiarity with irrigation systems, greenhouse controls, and soil health practices
• Experience with organic or sustainable growing methods is a plus
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow plant care schedules precisely
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Physically able to lift 40–50 lbs and perform repetitive tasks (bending, kneeling, standing)
• Comfortable working in varying environments, including warm, humid greenhouse conditions and outdoor weather
