We are seeking a reliable, hands-on Farm Hand / Property Assistant to support daily operations on a private farm.
Farm Hand – Animal & Poultry Care Focused
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–2:00 PM (includes 30-minute lunch)
Hours: 32.5 hours per week to start
Compensation: $25–$30/hour, based on experience
Position Summary
We are seeking a dependable, hands-on Farm Hand with a strong focus on animal care and poultry management, particularly chickens. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working closely with animals, takes pride in maintaining high standards of care, and thrives in an active, outdoor farm environment.The Farm Hand will support the daily care of livestock and poultry, including feeding, cleaning, health monitoring, and maintaining safe, clean living conditions.
This position plays a critical role in ensuring animal welfare and the smooth day-to-day operation of the farm.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide daily care for chickens and other livestock, including feeding, watering, and monitoring overall health and behavior • Collect eggs, clean and maintain coops, nesting boxes, and surrounding areas • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of animal enclosures, ensuring proper bedding, ventilation, and hygiene • Monitor for signs of illness, injury, or distress and report concerns promptly • Assist with flock management, including integrating new birds, managing laying cycles, and supporting general poultry health • Support basic animal handling as needed, including moving animals and maintaining secure enclosures and fencing • Maintain feed inventory and assist with ordering or restocking supplies • Assist with general farm upkeep including fence repair, coop maintenance, and equipment care • Support light crop or greenhouse tasks as needed, depending on farm priorities • Follow all farm safety, biosecurity, and animal welfare protocols
Qualifications & Experience
• Previous experience with chickens or livestock care strongly preferred • Understanding of basic poultry care, including feeding, egg collection, and coop maintenance • Comfortable working closely with animals in a hands-on environment • Strong attention to detail, especially in monitoring animal health and cleanliness • Ability to lift 40–50 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks • Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently or as part of a team • Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditionsPreferred
Qualifications
• Experience with poultry health, flock management, or small livestock • Familiarity with farm biosecurity practices • Basic knowledge of equipment, fencing, or minor repairs • Interest in sustainable or small-scale farming practices
