JOB SUMMARY
EQ8 Recruit has been engaged by our client who is recruiting an LPG HSEQ / Marine Superintendent to join the Technical team of an established international ship management business in Hong Kong.

The role offers the opportunity to work closely with vessel and shore based teams, with a strong focus on marine operations, HSEQ, vessel assurance, vetting and operational standards across allocated vessels.

Based in Hong Kong, this opportunity would suit an experienced Marine Superintendent with a strong LPG seagoing background who is looking to continue their shore based career within international ship management.

Our client is an established international ship management business managing a diverse fleet of modern vessels, including gas carriers. The organisation places strong emphasis on safe operations, environmental protection, regulatory compliance and high standards of technical and marine management.

THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT
In order to be shortlisted for the vacancy, the successful candidate will have the following skills and competencies, including but not limited to:

• Master Mariner Class I Deck Certificate of Competency
• At least 1–2 years of previous shore based experience as a Marine Superintendent
• Several years of Chief Officer experience on LPG vessels
• At least 1 year of sailing experience as Master
• Strong practical LPG operational experience
• Additional LNG experience will be considered valuable
• Previous oil major experience will be considered valuable
• Strong working knowledge of SIRE, TMSA, CDI, ISM, SIGTTO and OPTIMOOR
• Experience with RightShip, Q88 and OCIMF vessel inspections
• Experience with oil major approvals and vetting
• Experience conducting audits, risk assessments and incident investigations
• Experience analysing SIRE and CDI observations and developing corrective action plans
• Strong English communication skills
• Experience working with multinational and multicultural crews
• Willing and able to be based in Hong Kong
• Shortlisted candidates will need to provide a full sea time listing, including vessel name, vessel type, rank and duration served

JOB DESCRIPTION
The role responsibilities will include, but not limited to:

• Oversee marine operational and HSEQ standards across allocated vessels
• Monitor vessel performance, condition, safety and environmental standards
• Support vessel readiness for oil major approvals, vetting and external inspections
• Maintain operational standards associated with TMSA, SIRE, CDI and RightShip requirements
• Conduct and support vessel inspections, internal audits and marine assurance activities
• Review inspection findings, identify recurring or high risk observations and ensure appropriate corrective actions are followed through
• Support incident and near miss investigations, including associated reporting and corrective actions
• Review and authorise operational risk assessments where required
• Monitor vessel safety performance and follow up on relevant shipboard safety matters
• Support the ongoing effectiveness and development of the Safety Management System and HSEQ documentation
• Maintain oversight of Q88 information and relevant vessel documentation
• Monitor industry and regulatory developments that may affect vessel compliance or approval status
• Support responses arising from vetting, CDI and port state inspections
• Provide marine operational input to Technical and Crewing teams where required
• Support cargo operations and other marine operational matters when required
• Attend vessels for marine inspections and operational activities as required
• Provide shipboard and shore based training relating to tanker operations, safety, quality and marine standards
• Support emergency and contingency situations in accordance with established procedures
• Review navigation audits and contribute to relevant procedural updates
