JOB SUMMARY
Our client is recruiting a Senior Electrical Technician to join its R&D Department based in Montague Gardens, Cape Town. This permanent position supports electrical manufacturing across multiple factory and harbour sites, requiring strong electrical fault finding, commissioning and technical support experience. Candidates with marine electrical expertise will be highly regarded, while those with extensive experience in DC to AC inverter systems, solar systems and battery systems are also encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will travel between multiple facilities to support manufacturing, commissioning and continuous improvement.

THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT
In order to be shortlisted for the vacancy, the successful candidate will have the following skills and competencies, but not limited to:

• Minimum Red Seal Electrician or Mechatronics qualification
• Minimum 5 years' experience within the marine electrical industry or extensive experience with DC to AC inverter systems, solar systems and battery systems
• Experience within marine electrical manufacturing will be highly advantageous
• Strong knowledge of electrical systems and components, preferably within the marine industry
• Knowledge of marine standards ISO 13297:2014, ISO 10133:2000 and ABYC E11 will be advantageous
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics
• Strong electrical fault finding and troubleshooting skills
• Experience programming Victron and Raymarine equipment or working with comparable electrical control systems
• Experience supporting manufacturing and commissioning activities
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD or DraftSight
• Experience with PLC programming
• Knowledge of Digital Switching Systems
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
• Experience reviewing and updating electrical drawings
• Experience refining Bills of Materials and material usage
• Ability to plan and organise multiple deliverables
• Experience training, mentoring and supervising technical staff
• Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
• Strong attention to detail
• Driver's Licence and own reliable transport
• Sailing or boating experience will be advantageous
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
• Ability to work effectively within a collaborative team environment

JOB DESCRIPTION
The role responsibilities will include, but not limited to:

• Support multiple production lines manufacturing sailing and power driven yachts
• Conduct prelaunch vessel quality inspections and commissioning activities
• Programme Victron, Raymarine and other electrical control systems where applicable
• Provide technical support to Factory Group Leaders
• Provide technical support to Commissioning Engineers
• Provide technical support to Engineering teams
• Conduct electrical fault finding across factory and harbour operations
• Train and mentor electrical operators
• Review and update electrical drawings
• Support manufacturing process improvements
• Review and refine Bills of Materials and material usage
• Assist with Health and Safety activities and risk assessments
• Assist with work instructions and production documentation
• Support manufacturing efficiency through continuous improvement initiatives
• Review task lists and support task time tracking
• Assist with prototype builds for new projects
