JOB SUMMARY
Our client is recruiting a Cost Accountant to work within a fast paced maritime and shipbuilding manufacturing operation, supporting cost control and analysis across a highly complex end to end production process involving thousands of components per vessel.

ABOUT OUR CLIENT
Our client operates within the maritime and shipbuilding sector, manufacturing complete vessels in house from raw materials through to finished product. The environment is operationally demanding, production led, and characterised by scale, complexity, and constant problem solving on the factory floor.

THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT
In order to be shortlisted for the vacancy, the successful candidate will have the following skills and competencies, but not limited to:

• Degree in cost and or management accounting or a relevant qualification
• Minimum of five years proven cost accounting experience within a manufacturing environment
• Demonstrated experience working with very high volume bills of material running into thousands of line items
• Strong hands on manufacturing cost accounting exposure rather than general accounting focus
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills with the ability to build extract analyse and interpret large data sets quickly
• Strong working knowledge of SYSPRO is essential, with sufficient depth to operate independently in a manufacturing cost accounting environment
• Comfortable spending significant time on the factory floor engaging with line managers and production teams
• Ability to analyse issues quickly and translate data into practical operational actions
• Strong influencing skills with the confidence to challenge and extract information from production and factory management
• Fluency in English is essential with Afrikaans language capability strongly preferred due to the operational environment
• Resilient decisive and adaptable personality suited to a demanding manufacturing setting
• Valid drivers licence and own transport
• Willingness to work overtime when required

JOB DESCRIPTION
The role responsibilities will include, but not limited to:

• Maintaining and controlling material cost structures across raw materials components and sub assemblies
• Managing and validating extremely large bills of material from raw material through to finished vessel
• Spending time on the factory floor identifying cost issues process breakdowns and inefficiencies
• Extracting and analysing data using Excel to support rapid problem identification and decision making
• Supporting production and line managers with cost insight to resolve operational issues
• Performing material labour and overhead variance analysis within a high complexity manufacturing environment
• Tracking waste scrap rework and inefficiencies across production processes
• Ensuring SYSPRO data integrity related to costing units of measure and material usage
• Supporting pricing and costing for new builds modifications and production changes
• Producing clear practical cost reports for management with a focus on action rather than theory
